CHAPTER 5
Harlow
I DONâT HEAR anything else he says. I abruptly rise from my chair, practically tipping it over, and get the fuck out of that cafe as fast as I possibly can.
By the time I reach the patio, my chest is so tight, that I can hardly pull in a lungful of air. I feel like I canât breathe, like Iâm going to pass out, and my heart is beating so fast, I can feel it pulsing in my throat.
Fuck.
I know exactly what this is. Itâs a panic attackâone of several dozen Iâve had in the last few months. But regardless of how often it happens, each time is just as scary as the last. It never gets easier or less terrifying.
I feel a hand on my arm. âHarlow , are you okay?â Noah. Of course.
I shake my head and struggle to take in big gulps of air. Itâs not working. âBreathe, Little Rabbit. In slowly, then out.â
His voice is oddly soothing, but the fact that he thinks he can talk me out of the panic attack that he created is infuriating. I swallow and jerk my
arm out of his grip. âIâm fine. Just leave me alone.â
It takes everything in me to get those two sentences out, but I manage it. âIâm not leaving you alone when youâre obviously having a panic
attack,â he says.
Everyone is still staring at usâeven more so nowâand that just adds to my anxiety. I need to get out of here. Somewhere safe, quiet. I have a class in a few minutes, but Iâm not sure Iâll make it. I have no choice, though. Iâm here on a scholarship, which means I canât afford to be bumped from any of my classesâand the first week is crucial. Each class is only allowed a certain number of students, and if Iâm not there to claim my seat, itâll be taken by someone else.
I force my spine to straighten, and I suck in a deep, strengthening breath. My heart still feels like a jackrabbit thumping against my ribs, but I do my best to ignore it.
âMy next class starts in a few minutes. I have to go.â And with that, I turn toward the social science building without waiting for Noah to respond.
Damn. Day two and Iâve already been nearly assaulted, claimed by the campus king, and had a panic attack. Iâm starting to think this school has too much drama for me.
But itâs the only school that offered me a full ride, so I guess Iâm stuck here.
I book it to the social sciences building and find a seat in my next class. Once Iâm settled in the corner, away from everyone else, my heart rate starts going back to normal. Thank God.
I pull my phone out to text Talia .
Just had a full-on panic attack in front of everyone at the cafe.
She texts me back immediately.
You ok?
I type out my response.
Yeah, better now. We were invited to a sorority party tonight. Come with me?
Considering my anxiety level, I probably shouldnât be going to a party tonight, but I know itâll cheer Talia up. Besides, with a couple of drinks in my system, Iâll be fine.
My phone pings. Itâs Talia .
Sure. Sounds good. I have to meet someone after class, but Iâll text you later.
I shove my phone into my backpack and try to focus on the professor, who is introducing himself, and for the rest of class, Iâm just kind of there. Present, but not really paying attention. All I can think about is Noah. Why am I so transfixed by him? Heâs such an asshole, and not only that, heâs surrounded by other assholes. I donât need that in my life.
The queen of bad decisions. Thatâs me. I should have told Noah to fuck-off last night. Well, I guess I did, but I didnât follow it up with the vitriol he deservesâand thatâs on me.
At some point, Skye texts me with the information for the party, and I forward it to Talia . One of my classes runs kinda late, so rather than have her wait on me, I suggest meeting her at the party.
Itâs dark when my last class lets out. About thirty of us pour out of the social sciences building, dispersing in multiple directions.
âFancy meeting you here.â
A familiar baritone cuts through the crisp evening air, and I shudder. Not from cold, but from awareness spiking in my veins. Noah Sabastian was waiting for me outside the building. This is the third time being accosted by him today.
I keep walking. âOh, look. Itâs you. How do you have so much time to follow me around? Donât you have your own classes?â
âMy building is next to yours,â he replies, keeping step with me.
The physics building. Hm. Maybe the guy is more intelligent than I give him credit for. Or maybe heâs buying his grades, which somehow seems more likely.
âDidnât we kinda say everything we needed to say this afternoon?â I huff. âWhy are you here?â
âItâs dark. We donât want a repeat of last night, do we?â
I stop and turn toward him abruptly. âDidnât you say you took care of that? I mean, the guy is in the hospital, right? Sounds like heâs going to be laid up for a while. â
âYouâre dating one of the Sacred Sons, Harlow . Heâs not the only one whoâll come after you.â
âFirst, and foremost, weâre not dating. So letâs get that clear. Second, why would anyone come after me? Why? Iâve been here less than a week. The only questionable thing Iâve done was attend your stupid ceremony.â
And, seriously, Iâm looking for less drama in my life, not more
Noah shoves his hands into his pockets and narrows his eyes at me. âListen, Harlow , I know this campus. I know the people here. Anyone connected with the Sacred Sons will draw attention.â
I start walking again, and he follows. Iâm walking toward my residence hall, which thankfully isnât very far. âIf you run this placeâlike you claim you doâthen canât you just tell people to leave me alone?â
âItâs not that simple.â His voice is tight. âThe only way people will leave you alone is if they see us together. If they know youâre under my protection.â
Jezus. âThis is beginning to feel like some weird mafia situation.â
We reach my building, and I open the side door. When he amoves to follow me, I turn on my heel and put my hand out, stopping him, âIâm good, thanks. I donât think anyone is going to accost me in the time it takes to get to my room.â
Just as I turn back to walk through the door, he grabs my wrist. âAre you going to the party tonight?â
If I say yes, I know heâs going to insist on coming, too. Or at the very least, walk me there.
âItâs been a crazy couple of days, and Iâm exhausted. I think I might just go to bed early,â I lie
He nods once and releases me. âText me if you go out.â
Not a chance .
âSure, whatever.â
When I get upstairs, I stop by Talia 's room and knock. No answer. Her roommate isnât even around. Not that I expected Talia to be there. She
probably headed over to the party a while ago. Sheâd never responded to my last text, but she can be a little scattered, and sometimes she forgets to reply.
Emily is on her bed when I enter. Her side of the room is so much cuter than mine. A couple of days ago, both her parents came to help her move in. Her mom, especially, had fussed over herâhelping her set up her desk, and arrange the pictures on her wall. Her dad had set her computer up and made sure she was connected to the wifi, and all that.
Iâd watched it all with envy.
No one had ever taken care of me like that. Never. Everything I do, I do alone. Iâm an only child, and Iâve lived with my grandmother since I was eleven. And my grandmother loves me, but sheâs tired and has a lot of health issues. My dad is nearly nonexistent, and my mom doesnât give a shit about anyone but herself. So yeah, sheâs not coming here to take me shopping and make my side of the room cute. I doubt she even knows Iâm here.
âHey,â I say as I walk in, tossing my backpack onto my bed. âIâm headed over to a sorority party. You wanna join?â
Emily glances up from her laptop. âUm, I mean, I need to get some reading done for classâŠâ
I open my dresser drawer and pull out a pair of jeans and a tank top. We have a shared bathroom down the hall that I could use to change, but going all the way down there is so annoying, so I decide to just dress here. As soon as I shuck the pants Iâm wearing, Emily averts her gaze. I tug my jeans on and replace my baby-T with a plain white tank top.
Iâm refreshing my makeup when I make my last-ditch effort to convince Emily to join me. âAre you sure you donât want to come? It might be fun.â
Honestly, I donât even really want to go myself, but Talia is probably already there, and I really donât want to walk over alone. Not after what happened last night.
âWe could always leave a little early, so you can get your reading done,â I add.
She hesitates for a second, then closes her laptop and sets it aside. âOkay. Maybe just for a little while.â
Weâre both ready in about five minutes, and we start heading over to the sorority. Itâs only a block away, so it takes us about three minutes to get over there.
The place is a fucking mad house.
The house is beautiful, two stories, and right on the beach. Inside is chaos, though, and as soon as we get there, I text Talia .
Iâm here. Where are you?
She doesnât text back right away, so I leave Emily out on the back patio with a couple of her friends and go in search of Talia .
This place is packed to the gills with hot guys, though, Iâll say that. These guys definitely werenât at the Burning Crown ceremony last nightâ which is a point in their favor. The guys here have that chill, beach boy look, which is right up my alley.
Inside, bodies are crushed together, undulating to the rhythm of the music, which is blaring over the din of laughter. As I look for Talia , I grab a drinkâa solo cup half filled with cinnamon-flavored whiskey. It tastes like a Red Hots candy and goes down really easy.
Iâm three sips in, and already feeling relaxed as I hunt for Talia . But sheâs not here. In the span of ten minutes, Iâve looked in every closet and dark corner. I glance at my phone for the millionth time, and thereâs still no response from her. Where is she?
I try not to panic, though. Sheâll be here. Maybe she met a new friend and sheâs just running late, caught up in some random drama. Who fucking knows with her. Sheâs always been the life of the party, and pretty impulsive. I wouldnât put it past her to tag along with a group of girls sheâd just met.
I donât see my new friend, Skye, either, so Iâm standing alone, just finishing my first drink, when someone sidles up beside me. At first, I donât even notice. But after a few seconds, I hear a male baritone address me.
âHey,â he says. âDidnât I see you at Rush House last night?â
I glance over to see a cute guy with wavy brown hair, dark eyes, and a sweet, wholesome smile. Heâs wearing a blue polo and looks like he just stepped off a golf course. I nearly do a double-take, because he looks so out of place here.
âHi,â I say with a smile, raising my voice so I can be heard over the music. âYeah, my friend, Talia and I were invited. Are you a member?â
âIâm not supposed to say,â he says with a smile. âIâm Nathan Hearst.â
I nod awkwardly. âHarlow .â
He looks confused and leans in closer to me. His clean, eucalyptus scent envelops me. âIâm sorry, say that again?â
I inch closer to him. âItâs unusual, I know. My mom is weird.â I laugh a little to cut the awkwardness. âItâs Harlow . L-U-X.â
âOh, Harlow .â His head bobs. âThatâs a really cool name.â
âThanks,â I answer, draining the last of my cinnamon-flavored whiskey. He notices my empty solo cup. âCan I grab you another drink?â
âOh, thanks. I was drinking the whiskey.â I hand him my cup, and he leaves to refill it. Heâs back in under a minute, handing me a fresh cup. I nod, and thank him again, taking a sip.
âYou look like youâre searching for someone,â he says, watching the girls in the middle of the room as they twerk against each other.
âUh, yeah, Iâm supposed to meet my friend here. Sheâs probably on her way,â I say, glancing at my phone. Still no message from her.
âSo what are you studying?â he asks.
I tell him what my major is, and we make small talk for a bitâall the while, Iâm watching the front door, waiting for Talia to walk through it.
Itâs so nice to have a normal conversation with a cute guy, though. Iâd almost forgotten what that felt like. All the guys Iâve been involved with over the last couple of years have been both hot as fuck and crazy like a devilâNoah Sabastian included.
This guy is justâŠnormal. And the longer we talk about nothing, the more comfortable I feel. Maybe my luck in guys is actually changing.
Nathan and I are just chatting about nothing when everyone in the house
âand I mean, the entire houseâerupts into a roar of excitement. Everyone stomps their feet in a rhythm they all seem to know by heart .
What the
Nathan glances at me, and I get the sense heâs trying to gauge my reactionâwhich, honestly, is just confusion. âNow the party has officially started,â he explains. âThe Sons have just arrived.â

Song of the Day: June 5

im unsure how i feel about toa as a series so far but by god does riordans writing amuse me
#trials of apollo#i dont like toa as much as i did hoo because it feels like a slight downgrade#because hoo was such a GRAND STORY that it would be hard to top like they literally schismed the gods. went to rome and greece#to HELL AND BACK#found A MYSTERY OF THE WORLD#and had to defeat the EARTH ITSELF#so toa is like a massive downgrade in scale like apollo is human and he has to overthrow capitalism TT like ok#and i dont find the characters as endearing im mainly talking about meg#shes growing on me but shes not really a character i care so much about#and also the way that hoo was written from multiple perspectives i think riordan really shined#i dont like riordans first person povs as much as i like his third persons#also i feel like the target audience age went down again so that may also be why#the books are a lot shorter and apollo just isnt as endearing as percy jackson yet#who was down to earth and funny despite some of his main graspable personality in the first couple being like haha one liner#i domt like apollo as much esp in his introduction but im sure it was the point#its just that its hard to like a character when you go from like 7 really endearing teens with interesting struggles to like#Literally a Stuck up god who cannot help self flagellating like every 3 words in the first chapter#hopefully i like it better by the end of this one (2nd book) cause i wasnt really into hoo until the end of son of neptune#and mark of athena and house of hades my beloved đ„ș#AT LEAST LEOS IN THIS BOOK !!!!

how to start reading again
from someone who was a voracious reader until high school and is now getting back into it in her twenties.
start with an old favourite. even though it felt a little silly, i re-read the harry potter series one christmas and it wiped away my worry that i wasn't capable of reading anymore. they are long books, but i was still able to get completely immersed and to read just as fast as i had years and years ago.
don't be afraid of "easier" books. before high school i was reading the french existentialists, but when getting back into reading, i picked up lucinda riley and sally rooney. not my favourite authors by far, but easier to read while not being totally terrible. i needed to remind myself that only choosing classics would not make me a better or smarter person. if a book requires a slower pace of reading to be understood, it's easier to just drop it, which is exactly what i wanted to avoid at first.
go for essays and short stories. no need to explain this one: the shorter the whole, the less daunting it is. i definitely avoided all books over 350 pages at first and stuck to essay collections until i suddenly devoured donna tartt's goldfinch.
remember it's okay not to finish. i was one of those people who finished every book they started, but not anymore! if i pick up a book at the library and after a few chapters realise i'd rather not read it, i just return it. (another good reason to use your local library! no money spent on books you might end up disliking.)
analyse â or don't. some people enjoy reading more when they take notes or really stop to think about the contents. for me, at first, it was more important to build the habit of reading, and the thought of analysing what i read felt daunting. once i let go of that expectation, i realised i naturally analyse and process what i read anyway.
read when you would usually use your phone. just as i did when i was a child, i try to read when eating, in the bathroom, on public transport, right before sleeping. i even read when i walk, because that's normally a time i stare at my screen anyway. those few pages you read when you brush your teeth and wait for a friend very quickly stack up.
finish the chapter. if you have time, try to finish the part you're reading before closing the book. usually i find i actually don't want to stop reading once i get to the end of a chapter â and if i do, it feels like a good place to pick up again later.
try different languages. i was quickly approaching a reading slump towards the end of my exchange year, until i realised i had only had access to books in english and that, despite my fluency, i was tired of the language. so as soon as i got back home i started picking up books in my native tongue, which made reading feel much easier and more fun again! after some nine months, i'm starting to read in english again without it feeling like a huge task.
forget what's popular. i thought social media would be a fun way to find interesting books to read, but i quickly grew frustrated after hating every single book i picked up on some influencer's recommendation. it's certainly more time-consuming to find new books on your own, but this way i don't despise every novel i pick up.
remember it isn't about quantity. the online book community's endless posts about reading 150 books each year or 6 books in a single day easily make us feel like we're slow, bad readers, but here's the thing: it does not matter at all how many books you read or what your reading pace is. we all lead different lives, just be proud of yourself for reading at all!
stop stressing about it. we all know why reading is important, and since the pandemic reading has become an even more popular hobby than it was before (which is wonderful!). however, there's no need to force yourself to be "a reader". pick up a book every now and then and keep reading if you enjoy it, but not reading regularly doesn't make you any less of a good person. i find the pressure to become "a person who reads" or to rediscover my inner bookworm only distances me from the very act of reading.

What was supposed to be a cozy Thursday night ended up in you being forced to stay at Heeseungâs house for the night.
Forced? Not really, you enjoyed the excuse of spending more time with your boyfriend. Because of a flooding caused by the storm outside, you werenât able to go back home.
But neither were his parents, who were supposed to have a nice date and ended up being blocked by the horrible weather.
The sound of the raindrops tapping against the window filled the room as Heeseung turned off the shower.
You were laying on his bed with your back to the wall as you peacefully read your book, thankful that your sixth sense made you bring it.
Heeseung entered the room with only a towel wrapped around his waist while he used another to dry his damp hair.
âReading still?â He asked, nudging the book with toe. âEw.â You stated, pushing his foot away âAnd yes.â
Heeseung just chuckled and moved to get his clothes from the drawer âHeard from your parents?â
He hummed âI called them before showering, they said theyâll stay at a motel,â He put his boxers on âBut before they could say more, the line cut off.â
You threw a glance at the window âThis storm is going to destroy a lot of things.â
Heeseung struggled to put on shorts and then rounded the bed, the mattress lowering where his weight was.
âI bet theyâre having some wild sex right now.â You joked, flipping another page of your book.
Heeseung pinched your side âEw? I donât really want to think about my parents going at it.â He laughed, laying down beside you.
âCareful, you might have a brother soon.â You joked again, earning another gentle pinch.
A couple of minutes passed by and Heeseung groaned âWi-fi doesnât work.â He threw his phone at the end of the bed. âI canât play games.â
âPoor you.â You cooed, caressing the hand he had placed on your hip, his chest pressed against your back.
âCanât you put your book down and give me attention?â You could hear the pout in his voice âNo boy, Iâm at an important point.â
âEvil.â Heeseung murmured as he settled into a more comfortable position, strangely not going anywhere to do something else.
You felt his hand on your side, relaxed as well as his breath even. âHe mustâve fallen asleepâ, You thought, as you flipped another page of your book, unable to stop your eyes from reading the scene unfolding before you.
If Heeseung was to casually open his eyes and read even one line of the chapter, he would certainly make fun of you.
Who even reads smut in their boyfriendâs bed?
You felt his hand flex on your stomach but you didn't really mind, he would always move uncontrollably when asleepâ sometimes, even kicking you.
As your mind proceeded the words written down on paper, your body reacted to it, almost unconsciously.
You could feel your core pulse in need, your body temperature raising and at the same time goosebumps appeared on your skin.
It always happened, you couldnât help the way your imagination wandered with the characters of the book, the tension and the way they cared for each other. It was all too tempting, you could feel your stomach fill with butterflies.
But your boyfriend was sleeping and you didnât want to disturb him, knowing he already had troubles falling asleep â the reason why he always stayed up late to play games â, so you kept quiet.
You felt Heeseung shift behind you, the hand on your stomach circling your waist until he was able to pull you against his chest, his breath hot against your ear.
You held your breath as he changed position, not making any sudden movement while he used you like you were a teddy bear.
Gulping down, you waited a few beats before focusing your attention back on the chapter.
Itâs not like you and Heeseung had never gone further than third base, but it was always so⊠vanilla.
You longed for someone to use you for your own pleasure, to talk you through your multiple orgasms, to mark you up and manhandle you like a doll.
But you would never have the courage to confess that to Heeseung.
Yes, you two had been together for almost a year and half though you werenât ready to open up to your contorted fantasies. Afraid that he may run away, you loved him too much for that.
So, you hid in your imagination, burying your nose in books that filled the void inside of you.
Letting out a quiet sigh, you tried to calm the fire igniting your bones, but your hips shifted uncomfortably, the ache between your legs too strong to be ignored.
Suddenly, Heeseung spoke to your ear, voice low and husky âYou want to show me too?â You jolted and closed the book, catching your finger in middle, hissing at the pain.
You turned your face around and caught his gaze, something different inside it. Something primal.
âI-I thought you were sleeping.â You said, blinking faintly and Heeseung smirked, âI was reading with you.â
He reached the book from your hand and like a fool, you let him take it. He opened the page where you had left your finger in and cleared his throat âHe looked at her with a strange urge, his attention gliding to her face,â He started reading.
âHis voice was low when he said âShow me, show me how you touch yourself when youâre alone in the middle of the nightâ.â
The heat that was once in your stomach moved to your cheeks, embarrassment coating your expression.
âItâs just a chapter, I was skipping it.â You tried to reach back for your book but he held it up, sitting âAh, lying is bad, Y/N.â
Heeseungâs smirk was cocky âYou seemed pretty into it.â You scoffed, âGive it back.â
Your boyfriend was clearly enjoying it, the way you blushed and the flustered look on your face. He licked his bottom lip and eyed you up and down.
Only when you lowered your gaze, unable to meet his, did you notice the hard-on he was sporting. Was he enjoying it the same way you were?
âThereâs no wi-fi.â He stated, âAnd my parents arenât home, donât you think we should occupy our time?â
This side of him was something you had never seen, perhaps, had he the same hidden likings as yours? Looked like you were about to find out.
âHow?â You asked, your voice hoarse, barely yours. Heeseung glanced back at the page and said âTake off your shorts.â
Your breath hitched in your throat, âW-What?â And he just chuckled darkly âDo you think I didnât notice your body language, mh? Do you think I didnât see how you were craving⊠this?â He raised the book.
âNow, take off your shorts or Iâll have to do it myself.â Normally, you would comply, but you were feeling bold, adrenaline shooting in your veins, so you said instead, âMake me.â
His eyes darkened, his brow raised. He placed the book on the bed and crawled towards you as you backed away until your back hit the headboard.
He kept eye contact while his fingers hooked around your shorts, and instead of his usual slow pace, he yanked them off.
You gasped at the sudden force, soon enough your shorts were laying on the floor âIsnât this what you want?â He questioned.
âYou want someone to dominate you, uh? To show you whatâs your place?â Your whole body shivered from his words as you mindlessly nodded.
âAll this time Iâve been gentle, afraid to make you uncomfortable,â He gripped your panties âBut all you wanted was to be fucked, hard, isnât it?â He ripped them off you, the sound of fabric stretching making you gasp again.
He smirked and threw the messy fabric on the floor, with your shorts âSo, Iâll follow what you like.â He pointed at the book resting on the duvet âPlay with yourself.â
You widened your eyes. Heeseungâs behaviour was different from his usual one, though you couldnât say you didnât like it. Lord, you were drenched just from his words and he could see it, the way your juices coated your pussy, spread in front of him.
You gulped and slowly moved your hand down, reaching your clit which you started circling.
A soft hum escaped your lips at the sweet feeling and you watched him, his gaze so primal and full of lust as he took in the sight of you touching yourself.
Just a few beats passed before he asked âYou know what she does now, right?â And you nodded, lifting your hand up to his lips. He hummed and took them inside his mouth, his warm tongue twirling around your digits.
The taste of you, even if it was just brief, was enough to make his head spin, so delicious and intoxicating.
You removed them âLet me watch while you fuck yourself.â He said and was suddenly aware of your position. Of how open you were in front of him, your folds clenching around nothing.
Heeseung raised an impatient brow and you hurried to coat your fingers in your juices, rubbing them against your entrance before thrusting one inside.
You moaned, your fingers brushing against your g-spot right away, given all the times youâd done this.
Heeseung licked his bottom lip, the taste of you still lingering in his mouth, on his tongue. He could feel his shorts grow tighter by the minute, his desire for you overtaking any rational thought.
âOne more baby, I know you can take it.â He urged and you complied, adding a second digit to your ministration.
Heeseung let out a groan, his eyes locked on you as you brought pleasure to yourself. He quickly took the book back in his hands and flicked the page, a wicked smile on his lips.
âYeah, bet youâll like this.â He said as he pushed himself down the bed and took you by the back of your thighs, tilting your body until it was pending at the edge of the bed.
You stopped your movements and pulled your fingers out with a âPOPâ sound, resting on your elbows to look down at him âHee?â
âDonât worry, angel.â He pried your legs open, his breath fanning on your cunt, making you squeeze your eyes âJust need to taste your sweet pussy.â
And then you felt it, the swipe of his tongue across your folds, your mind clouding from the pleasure as soft gasps escaped your lips.
Heeseung ate you like a starved man, alternating sucking on your clit and fucking you with his tongue, his strong grip prevented you from squirming around.
You rocked your hips against his mouth, needing to chase the pleasure building inside your lower belly.
You reached a hand and placed it on his head, your fingers tangling in his locks, âMh, thatâs it, angel.â He murmured, âFuck my tongue.â
And so you followed his orders, moving with deep and slow thrusts, just enough to send jolts of pleasure through your jody as Heeseung stuck his warm tongue inside of you.
Soon, your movements grew sloppier and faster, your lips parted âIâmâ Iâm gonnaââ And before you could even finish your sentence, your orgasm hit you, making your back arch off the bed, your legs shaking.
âThis was so hot, baby.â Heeseung pressed a few more kitten licks on your clit before raising himself, caressing your thighs with his thumbs.
You looked up at him, your breath still uneven from the great amount of pleasure he had put you in.
He gave you a small smirk before reaching behind you and taking your forgotten book back. He flipped the pages âSpoiler, she gives him a BJ.â He said.
You chuckled, your body now recovered as you sat up âAnd you donât want it?â You batted your eyelashes.
Heeseung took a steady breath. âDonât tempt me.â He quickly searched further one the book, scanning lines and as he found something he liked, he pointed at it, a small laugh escaping his lips.
âAs much as I love feeling your mouth around me, I want to feel you whole.â He murmured.
You sat up, crawling towards him to the edge of the bed âMaybe I want to.â
His breath caught in his throat, your vicinity and your words going straight to his cock âThe way she does.â
Heeseung went back to the chapter where it all started, scanning the lines until he read âAfter making her see stars, he quickly unbuttoned his jeans, his gaze dangerous. âYour moans were so sweet, darling.â He murmured, lowering his jeans and boxers, his cock sprung free.â He paused to gulp.
âHe took the back of her head and moved her âtill her neck bent in an awkward position, his red tip brushing against her lips.â He lowered the book.
âIs this how you want it? Rough?â Heeseung questioned and you nodded âMight as well follow the script.â You shrugged.
A low groan built in his throat, you tugged the hem of his shirt âThis off?â Your eyes glistened with fake innocence.
Heeseung swiftly worked his shirt off, throwing it on the floor. Itâs not like you had never seen him without a shirt on, you were used to him during beach dates or pool parties, but it was always so breathtaking.
Heeseung smirked, noticing the way your hungry stare was studying his chest. In the blink of an eye his shorts joined his shirt, his cock hard and angry, some pre-cum smeared over the tip.
âBe a good girl and open up for me,â He murmured as he climbed on the bed, his hand clutching the headboard to keep himself steady.
You quickly laid down, his hips hovering on your face. You looked up at him, doe-eyes looking ever so pure⊠And then you took him all in your mouth.
Heeseung threw his head back at the feeling of your tongue swirling around his cock, your head bobbing back and forth.
âFuck,â He breathed out, his eyes meeting yours âSo good, always so good.â
He caressed your cheek, his thumb grazing gently your skin as his hips bucked, meeting your pace.
He then pulled out, making you frown which was soon transformed when his lips met yours.
You could feel his cock twitching between your breasts, one of his hands squeezing it as his lips claimed yours.
The kiss was sloppy and messy, both of your tongues moving together, his spit down your throat.
He was delaying his orgasm, you noted, because he wouldâve cum just from a few licks of yours.
And then he pulled his lips away from yours to thrust his throbbing length inside your mouth again âMh⊠Yesâ Shit. Youâre so good, angel. Mouth made just for me.â He praised as he moved.
You hummed, sending waves of pleasure all through his body.
You gripped his thighs, bobbing your head faster, desperate to bring him the pleasure he deserved.
Heeseung understood and gripped the headboard with both of his hands, his hips thrusting inside of your warm and wet mouth. He hit the back of your throat, making you gag âIâm so close.â He breathed out.
At his words, you ignored the burning sensation building in your throat and hollowed your cheeks, with a few more thrusts he was emptying himself with a groan.
When he pulled out, you licked any drop of cum that spilled out your mouth and hummed happily.
Heeseung chuckled, leaning down again to capture your lips in a messy but loving kiss.
You playfully bit his bottom lip and he pulled away, yelping âBrat.â
You smiled at him and sat up, your voice just briefly hoarse âWhat happens next?â
Heeseungâs gaze darkened but his words were serious âYou sure you want to continue?â He sighed softly, âBaby, I donât want to hurt you.â
You smiled reassuringly and beckoned to the book âTime to change chapter.â
Heeseung let out a quiet groan, his cock visibly twitching âHe fucks her against the wall.â He narrated what he had read âHard, hand around her throat⊠is that what you want?â
Just the idea of doing it that way had you drenched down there, a shiver ran along your spine âYes, Hee.â You breathed out, and to emphasise you add âI need it.â
âMy nasty girl.â He practically growled as he got up from the bed, taking you with him and slammed you against the wall of his bedroom.
You yelped when your back hit the cold surface, the tapping of the raindrops on the window your background music.
Heeseung claimed your lips again as one of his hands snuck to squeeze your backside, his fingers kneading it.
You could again feel his hard cock pressing against your stomach, its warmth infecting your core.
âIâve always wanted to fuck you,â He whispered on you throat âTo have you milk my cock as I take you so hard you canât say a coherent word.â
You rocked your hips against his, a clear effect of his words, your arms wrapped around his neck.
As if you weighed nothing, he raised you and you wrapped your legs around his sculpted waist.
Without any warning except for the aligning of his cock, he slammed deep inside of you, making you moan out.
Heeseung wasnât the biggest cock youâve seen, but he surely was the longest. You could feel him so deep, he could probably even reach your stomach if he tried hard enough.
You gripped the back of his neck like your life depended on it as he moved without any mercy, pulling all the way out until the tip just to slam back in, knocking the air out of your lungs.
He snuck one hand between your breasts and reached your throat, wrapping it around it. He gripped, not enough to choke you but good enough to make you light-headed.
His cock pounded hard into you, driving your brain into nothing but a puddle of his name, the one you screamed and moaned.
Your nails dug into his shoulders and he grunted, rewarding you with a deeper thrust, one you can almost feel in your centre, where the familiar knot was tightening.
Your eyes rolled back, just moans and whimpers escaping your lips.
Heeseung removed the hand from your throat and gripped your neck instead, letting your lungs that were screaming in protest fill with air up to their capacity.
He moved so your forehead pressed against his, both of you panting in each otherâs mouth, your pussy clenching around him.
He groaned, he put one of his hands on the wall to steady himself as his hips kept bucking fast on yours, the sound of skin slapping mixing up with the rainâs.
âIs this what you like, baby?â Heeseung asked, moving his face to gently nip on your neck.
Your whole body felt sensitive from the attention he was giving it, from his small hickeys to the way he kept hitting your sweet spot âY-yes.â You croaked out âFeels sâgood, fuck.â
Heeseung grinned and stilled, twitching inside of you with a groan.
Before you could even comprehend it, he had you with your back on the mattress, never pulling out of you.
Your legs spread open, eager to feel him in you, to let him claim him.
âFuck,â He grunted out, his pace never once faltering as he gripped your thighs to help himself, surely there would be marks the next day âFeels like heaven inside of you.â
You answered with a muffled whimper, not sure if your brain could even form out a word anymore.
He leaned on you, chest pressed against chest as he hid his face in the crook of his neck, his hot breath hitting your skin.
You rolled your eyes back, the pleasure building inside of you almost unbearable âHee..â You breathed out, gripping his forearm to warn him where words couldnât reach.
âI know,â He murmured, âMe too, babyâŠâ
You cried out as you tried to delay your orgasm the same way he could do, but the pleasure was too much and before you could even try to resist more, you saw white.
Your back arched off the bed and squirmed around, your walls clenching tight around Heeseung who, despite your state, never stopped thrusting.
âShitâ Where do you want it?â He asked, because it was in some ways a first timer. First time going rough, first time going raw.
You couldnât find your voice, your eyes watery from the impact of your orgasm, so you wrapped your legs around his waist, trapping him.
He frowned âAre youâ Fuck.â You felt his cum filling you up to the brim, the sensation so sweet a gasp left your lips as he rocked slowly, adrenaline lowering.
After a couple of minutes where neither of you had the energy to move, Heeseung raised himself and offered you a warm smile âHow was it?â He questioned as he stood up.
The sight of you, sprawled on his bed with both your seeds running down your thighs was enough to make him pop another boner, which earned him a side eye from you.
âDonât worry, baby.â Heeseung chuckled, opening one of the drawers to retrieve one of his shirts and helping you in it. He then carefully cleaned you up, dried the sweat running down your forehead and after putting back on his shorts and underwear, he laid beside you.
One of his arms snuck around your shoulder, he placed a gentle kiss on your forehead âYouâll have to go commando, since I ripped your panties.â You giggled, hugging him tighter.
âI really enjoyed⊠this.â Heeseung smirked, âI bet.â He glanced at the book, now resting on the bedside table âCome to me when you start another book, yeah?â
Heeseung absentmindedly squeezed your breast through the shirt âIâll make sure to recreate it all⊠even may steal some of the lines.â
Content that he wasnât going to judge you for your strange likings, rather supporting them, you let yourself be held as the storm outside slowly died, the breeze hitting your skin as you fell asleep, safe in his arms.

Trash Novel Chronicles: Please Let Me Live - Vil Schoenheit x reader
You get isekai'd into the worst novel you've had the misfortune of reading because apparently your life is a cosmic joke. Now all you have to do is not act like the character you've possessed and it'll be fine, you think? Your fiancé being Vil Schoenheit makes it a little harder to behave like a human being with functional braincells, but hey, atleast he likes you, you think?
Series Masterlist
You'd avoided it for so long. For months, your best friend had been pestering you to read the shoujo isekai novel of the year. According to them, it was the epitome of romantic drama, the kind that would "turn your heart into a mess of feelings" and "change your life." So, finally, after a particularly grueling week, your willpower hit rock bottom. You caved. You bought it, poured yourself a drink, and figured, "How bad can it be?"
Turns out, really bad.
Youâd barely made it past the first few chapters before your brain began to leak out of your ears. Every overused villainess plot point imaginable was crammed into the story like a contest of "how much nonsense can we fit in here before the reader gives up?" The evil fiancĂ©e everyone inexplicably hated? Check. The perfect cinnamon roll male lead everyone adored even though he had the personality of wet cardboard? Double check. The heroine who was so pure that even her sneeze would be enough to unite warring nations who also happens to be the saintess? You had to put the book down and take a moment when she gave a speech about friendship that was so saccharine, your teeth hurt.
Grumbling and filled with regret, you got up to refill your drink⊠only to slip on bubble wrap you swore yesterday that you were going to pick up later, fall face-first into the kitchen counter, and began to bleed out.
It was a comically stupid way to die. You knew that as you lay there, watching the light fade from your vision, your last thoughts being, This is the dumbest thing thatâs ever happened to me.
And then, darkness.
You woke up with a groan, your head pounding. As your vision cleared, you noticed you were lying in a very, very fancy bed. Silk sheets, gold trimming on the canopy, the works. And you were dressed in something frilly, layered, and far too complicated for someone who just woke up from a near-death experience.
"What theâŠ"
You sat up, rubbing your eyes, only to freeze as the realization hit you. This was not your bed. This was not your apartment. This wasâŠÂ Oh god, no.
You whipped your head around the lavish room, recognizing it from the novel youâd been hate-reading just last night. The massive mirror above the dresser, the tapestry with an overly detailed family crest, the obnoxiously large bouquet of roses that smelled way too sweet.
Youâre in the book.
Panicking, you scrambled out of bed and rushed to the full-length mirror by the wall. The reflection staring back at you was not your own. Instead, you saw an unfamiliar faceâher face. The one mentioned once, maybe twice, in the whole novel before being discarded like an old shoe: the betrothed of the villain.
The fiancée who dumps him for the male lead. The fiancée who gets themselves killed in the process.
âOh, come on!â you groaned, slapping your forehead. âIâm the villainâs betrothed? Iâm that idiot who leaves Vil Schoenheit because I fall for the human incarnation of a sugar cube?â
But there was no escaping it. You were now stuck in the body of a side character so irrelevant that even her death was treated as an afterthought. The one who leaves her handsome, ambitious, gorgeous fiancé for⊠Neige.
No. No, no, no. You were not about to die over a soggy cinnamon roll.
Determined to change your fate, you gathered your wits and opened the door to leave the room. But of course, you ran headlong into a tall figure, knocking you both back.
âOof! Careful there!â a smooth, yet stern voice said. You looked upâand froze. Standing before you, looking like something straight out of a high-fashion magazine, was Vil Schoenheit. The man whose heart you were supposed to break, the villain who would later descend into madness after you ditch him.
And wow. In person, he was even more stunning than the novel had described. His golden-blond hair shimmered in the sunlight pouring through the window, his purple eyes were as sharp as they were beautiful, and his posture screamed confidence.
You blinked up at him, utterly dumbfounded. Youâre supposed to leave him? For Neige? You nearly gagged at the thought.
Vil raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed by your wide-eyed staring. âIs something the matter?â
You gulped. Right. You were supposed to be cold and dismissive toward him, werenât you? But how? This man looked like he could make the heavens weep with his beauty. How had your character ever even considered leaving him?
âNo, nothingâs the matter!â you blurted out, a little too enthusiastically. âActually, everythingâs great! You look fantastic! I mean, not that you donât always look fantasticâbecause you doâbut, you know, extra fantastic today!â
Vilâs eyes narrowed. âYouâre acting strange.â
Abort. Abort!
You quickly cleared your throat. âUh, Iâve just been⊠thinking. About us.â
His gaze became sharper. âAbout us?â
You nodded, plastering on your most sincere smile. âYes! Iâve realized⊠I havenât been very, uh, appreciative of you lately. And Iâm sorry for that. Really, I am. So from now on, Iâll be the most appreciative fiancĂ©e ever!â
Vil looked at you as though youâd just told him the sun was cold. He clearly didnât trust this sudden change in attitude. âWhat exactly brought this on?â he asked slowly, suspiciously.
Time for Plan B. âOh, you know, just⊠reflection! Self-improvement! I thought, âWhy would I ever look anywhere else when Iâve got someone like *you* right in front of me?â Youâre⊠amazing, really.â You cringed internally at how corny that sounded, but Vil didnât seem entirely put off.
âHm,â was all he said, but his piercing gaze stayed locked on you, watching for any sign of deceit.
You were sweating bullets, but at least he wasnât storming off. Yet.
You knew from the moment you read the back cover that this novel was going to be a dumpster fire of clichés, but you were not prepared for the sheer chaos of it all.
So, first off, we have the heroineâthe Saintessâwho has somehow never faced a single hardship in her life, despite the fact that sheâs supposed to be the kingdomâs beacon of virtue and a symbol of overcoming hardship. Sheâs engaged to the crown prince, who conveniently disappears on a diplomatic mission and dies offscreen, probably to make room for her new love interest, Neige LeBlanche. Neige. That sparkly ray of sunshine who is so perfect and pure that you feel like you need sunglasses whenever his name is mentioned. Because apparently, whatâs more romantic than falling for a guy immediately after your fiancĂ© kicks the bucket?
Then thereâs the second male lead, the brooding Duke of the North, who checks all the boxes: tall, brooding, handsome, tragic backstoryâyawn. Of course, heâs madly in love with the Saintess, and like any self-respecting second male lead in a trashy romance, he sacrifices himself for her later. Because nothing says âIâm irrelevantâ quite like noble self-sacrifice.
And don't even get started on the heroine's best friend. Sheâs basically there to fawn over the Saintess and then inexplicably fall for Vil, the Grand Duke, after she pressures him into apologizing for insulting the heroine's dress. Like, why? Was his dress critique that alluring?
Now, Vil Schoenheit. The Grand Duke. The guy youâre currently stuck with as your fiancĂ©. Heâs actually a decent characterâpowerful, intelligent, not falling over himself to worship the Saintess like everyone else. But in the novel, heâs wasted. Why? Because heâs engaged to the character youâre now possessingâMiss Mean and Coldâwho treats him like dirt because sheâs too busy fantasizing about Neige. You know, the guy she has no shot with because heâs destined to fall for the Saintess. Then, when your character eventually dumps Vil for Neige, she dies in a freak accident. Vil, who actually loved her (for reasons no one understands), is so heartbroken that he turns into the main villain.
Yes, thatâs rightâthis whole mess of a plot ends with Vil going full villain mode because the love of his life ditched him for the living embodiment of a childrenâs snowman and then died in a way that no one can explain. Cue the Saintess and Neige teaming up to defeat him and live happily ever after.
And thatâs the story. A tangled web of nonsensical relationships, conveniently dead characters, and more emotional whiplash than you can handle. And the cherry on top? You're stuck in it, watching everything unfold firsthand. It's honestly a wonder the book didnât end up as kindling.
A few days passed, and somehow, miraculously, you managed to keep up the act. Every morning you would wake up, still half-expecting to snap out of this bizarre isekai nightmare, but instead, you were met with Vilâs meticulous morning routine and the low hum of his voice offering helpful reminders about skincare.
And the more time you spent with him, the more baffled you became.
How the hell could the original character have messed this up?!
Sure, Vil was particularâokay, maybe borderline obsessiveâabout appearances. His lectures about proper sunscreen application could rival the length of the Odyssey. And yes, the daily inspections of your outfit choices felt a little like going through customs at a royal border.
But⊠he was kind? Like, actually caring?
Every meal was an event because he made sure you were eating properly and not just shoving random food into your mouth like the gremlin you clearly were before. He listened when you rambled about your day, offering advice with this gentle patience that honestly made you want to weep. How could anyone leave this?
You found yourself in front of a mirror one afternoon, pacing and gesturing wildly at your reflection, as if you could summon the spirit of the character youâd possessed. "What the actual hell was wrong with you?!" you hissed at the glass. âWhat kind of brain rot would make someone ditch a man like Vil?! Are you missing brain cells, or was your skull just a rental with nothing in it?!â
You paused, glaring at your reflection as if it could offer answers, but nope. It just stared back, helpless.
âLike, hello?!â you continued, throwing your hands up in exasperation. âYou had a golden opportunity here! Heâs literally gorgeous! Heâs got hair that looks like it was hand-spun by some ancient beauty god, his fashion sense could kill a lesser mortal, and heâ*gasp*âcares about your well-being?!â
You slapped your forehead dramatically. âHow did you mess this up? Were you allergic to good things? Did you wake up every day and choose to be a feral raccoon instead of, I donât know, appreciating this actual masterpiece of a human being? What, did you look at his perfect face and go, âNah, Iâd rather yeet myself into self-destruction?â Because clearly, thatâs what happened!â
Your reflection remained silent, offering no help, which only fueled your rant further.
âYou absolute donut! You ridiculous bottle of poorly mixed potion! Youââ You stopped mid-sentence, running out of sufficiently creative insults to throw at the former owner of this body. Because seriously, what kind of fool wouldâve thrown Vil away?
You gripped the sides of the vanity table, leaning forward, narrowing your eyes at your own reflection. "If I find out that you gave up on this because he once asked you to wear a face mask or told you to drink more water⊠I swear, I'm going to find a way to repossess you just to kill you again for making me deal with this."
A soft knock at the door startled you out of your self-directed tirade. You nearly jumped out of your skin, spinning around to see Vil standing in the doorway, one perfectly groomed eyebrow raised in amusement.
âTalking to yourself again?â he asked, his voice smooth but with a teasing edge. âYou know, thatâs usually a sign of stress. Perhaps we should revisit that meditation routine I mentioned.â
You stared at him, wide-eyed and speechless, wondering how much heâd overheard. But then you caught sight of that soft smile he reserved just for you, and your brain short-circuited all over again.
Right. The original character was definitely an idiot.
The first major hurdle hit you when you least expected it.
It all started with what should have been a calm afternoonâa brief moment of peace where you and Vil could actually spend time together, no schemes, no weird confrontations, just enjoying tea. You were finally getting comfortable with each other, slowly building the trust that had been so fragile at the start. Finally, you thought, things were moving smoothly.
Then the overused villainess trope decided to rear its ugly head.
Vil was talking about an upcoming event heâd be hosting, his voice calm, his usual stern features softened just slightly by the moment of peace. You were finally letting your guard down.
That was until the door creaked open and in waltzed the heroineâs best friend, a girl with wide, doe-like eyes and a penchant for stirring up unnecessary drama. Behind her, looming in the doorway, was the second male leadâyour eternal source of frustration from the novel. He was tall, brooding, and always, always popping up at the most inconvenient moments. A defeated looking Epel walked in behind them, with a look that screamed 'trust me I tried to stop them.'
âOh no,â you whispered under your breath, recognizing this scene before it could even play out. You knew what was coming, and you braced yourself for the utter absurdity of it.
Vilâs sharp gaze flicked from the two intruders back to you, his brows furrowing in mild irritation. âWhat is it now?â he muttered, already sensing the impending nonsense.
The heroineâs friend, ever the bringer of chaos, marched right up to your table with a dramatic flair that could only come from someone who believed they were the only purveyor of justice. âI canât stay quiet any longer!â she declared, pointing an accusatory finger in Vilâs direction. âVil, how could you treat the heroine this way?! Youâve been so cold, so distantâand itâs clear that you donât truly care for anyone but yourself!â
You blinked. Excuse me?
Vilâs lips pursed, the irritation growing on his face. âAnd what, pray tell, did I do?â
âYou know what you did!â she exclaimed, crossing her arms like sheâd just delivered the most damning statement in history. âYouâve been ignoring her, brushing her off, and acting like she doesnât even exist. Sheâs heartbroken because of you!â
You groaned internally. Oh no, this was that scene. The one where, because Vil once made an offhand comment about the heroineâs poor choice in dresses at a ball, suddenly he was painted as some cruel villain who was emotionally tormenting the delicate heroine. It was such an incredibly stupid misunderstanding that you distinctly remembered wanting to throw the book across the room when youâd first read it.
To make matters worse, the second male lead, standing silently but brooding in the doorway, was glowering at Vil like he was ready to challenge him to a duel at any moment. Because of a comment about a dress.
âAre you serious?â you blurted out, the frustration bubbling up before you could stop yourself.
The heroineâs friend gasped, her eyes wide. âExcuse me?!â
âLet me get this straight,â you said, rising from your seat with a groan, âyouâre upset because Vil, what, didnât shower her with praise at the last event? And now youâve decided to come in here, storming into our tea time, to complain about it?â
The second male leadâs brooding scowl deepened, his jaw tightening. âVil has been cruelââ
âAbout a dress.â You cut him off, waving your hand dismissively. âVil made one comment about her dress. Thatâs it. And now weâre doing this whole song and dance like heâs some kind of evil tyrant?â
The room was already tense, the heroineâs best friend visibly fuming, but you couldnât help it. The words just came out before you could stop them.
âAnd while weâre at it,â you said, your voice dripping with mock innocence, âletâs talk about that dress. You know, the one youâre all so upset about. I mean, Iâm no fashion expert, but who in their right mind thought wearing that shade of mustard-yellow was a good idea?â
The friendâs mouth fell open, but you werenât finished. âI mean, she walked into the ballroom looking like a sad banana trying to go to a high society function. I get itâsaintess and all thatâbut thereâs no reason to dress like the interior of an overripe cantaloupe.â
Vil made a choking sound next to you, and you dared to glance at him. His eyes were wide with shock, but there was an unmistakable glint of amusement. Oh, he wasnât pleased with the crudeness, but he definitely wasnât going to stop you either.
âAnd you,â you said, turning to the second male lead, who had been standing there like a silent, brooding statue, just staring at the two of you menacingly. âWhatâs your excuse? You came in here with all this brooding energy, acting like youâre about to duel someone over the fate of the heroine. But seriously, whatâs with your whole tragic hero act? Is your personality just permanent raincloud or do you practice that in the mirror?â
Vil covered his mouth with his hand, and you could see his shoulders shaking slightly. He was losing the battle to keep his composure, but he was tryingâfor dignityâs sake, of course.
Epel, on the other hand, had completely given up. The moment youâd said âsad banana,â he had fallen off his chair, doubled over in laughter, his face red as he clutched his sides. You werenât sure if it was your insults or the second male leadâs thunderstruck expression, but either way, Epel was in hysterics.
âIââ the heroineâs friend sputtered, but you interrupted her again.
âOh, and you.â You looked her up and down with a condescending smirk. âYou really want to talk about fashion? Because I donât know who told you that wearing ruffles with plaid was a look, but they were wrong. Youâre out here looking like you got lost in a fabric store and fell into the clearance bin.â
This time, Vil snorted. Actually snorted. The sound was so out of place that it almost derailed your tirade, but you powered through, buoyed by his reaction.
The second male lead looked like he was ready to explode, his aura now bordering on murderous. âYou canât justââ
âOh, canât I?â you shot back, crossing your arms. âBecause it seems like all of you came in here with the intent to stir up drama over something as trivial as a constructive remark. If youâre going to go to war over fashion, at least wear something that doesnât look like you picked it out with your eyes closed. Scratch that, I couldnât imagine picking that up even with my eyes closed.â
By now, Epel was rolling on the floor, laughing so hard he could barely breathe. âC-couldnât pick it out⊠with your eyes closed!â he wheezed, slapping his knee.
Vil, despite himself, let out a low giggle, shaking his head in disbelief. âWell,â he said, his voice steady but filled with mirth, âI suppose subtlety was never your strong suit.â
The heroineâs friend, now red-faced and flustered beyond belief, grabbed the second male lead by the arm and yanked him toward the door. âThis isnât over,â she spat, glaring at you. âWeâll see whoâs laughing when the heroineââ
âYeah, yeah,â you waved dismissively, âwhen the heroine what? Realizes sheâs been pining for someone who can't tell mustard from elegance? Trust me, Iâm not worried.â
With that, they both stormed out, slamming the door behind them in a huff of embarrassment and frustration. The second they were gone, you let out a breath and sank back into your chair, grinning at Vil, who was now openly smiling.
âYou really didnât hold back, did you?â Vil said, his amusement evident despite his usual calm demeanor. âI donât approve of suchâŠÂ crude insults, but I must admitââ his lips twitchedâ âit was rather effective.â
Epel, still recovering from his laughing fit, managed to haul himself back into his seat, wiping tears from his eyes. âThat was⊠that was the funniest thing Iâve ever seen,â he said between gasps for air. âI canât believe ya said that right to their faces!â
âGlad to be of service,â you said with a grin, though your heart was still pounding in your chest. You couldnât believe youâd actually said all of that out loud. But judging by Vilâs pleased expression and Epelâs ongoing laughter, it had been worth it.
Maybe surviving this trash novel wouldnât be so bad after all.
Youâd barely had time to process how bizarrely normal your life as the villainâs fiancĂ©e had become when the next absurd isekai plot point decided to rear its ugly, trope-filled head again.
It all started at yet another lavish tea party. Honestly, youâd begun to lose track of how many of these events you were forced to attend. They all blurred together into a haze of polite smiles, floral patterns, and far too much sugar.
This time, you were seated next to Vil, who, as always, looked like he had just stepped out of a renaissance painting. You, on the other hand, were trying not to spill tea on the new dress heâd insisted you wear. The dress itself was lovely, of courseâVil had impeccable tasteâbut the whole setting made you feel like you were constantly walking on eggshells. Especially since she was here. The heroine.
Today, though, you were determined to get through it without any drama. Just smile, nod, and let the heroine do her thing. Easy, right?
Wrong.
Everything had been going smoothly, too. The heroine, in all her sunshiney glory, was seated at the table, surrounded by her usual group of admirers. You had been doing a great job of fading into the background until someoneâthe hostess, perhaps?âbrought up your previous adventures.
âOh, didnât you once accompany the Grand Duke to deal with that bandit problem on the eastern border?â the hostess asked, fanning herself with interest. âWhat a thrilling ordeal!â
You shifted uncomfortably in your seat, feeling the weight of too many eyes on you. âWell, I wouldnât say thrilling exactlyâŠâ you began, trying to downplay it, but your nerves had other ideas. âI mean, the heroine here was probably off rescuing some poor lost puppy while I was just, you know, holding down the real danger.â
The air went cold.
The moment the words left your mouth, you froze. The table fell silent, save for the quiet clinking of teacups being set down. Every eye was on you. The heroineâs wide, eyes blinked at you, full of hurt and confusion. And across from you, the second male leadâMr. Tall, Dark, and Broodingâlooked like he was ready to leap across the table and strangle you on the spot.
Oh no. Oh no no no. Why did you leave your filter at home?
You opened your mouth to apologize, but before you could, the second male lead slammed his cup down on the table, the porcelain rattling ominously. âYou dare insult her honor?!â he roared, rising from his seat like some kind of vengeful storm cloud. âI will not stand for this!â
*Why did I say that?* You cringed internally, face turning a bright shade of crimson. "I-it was a jokeâ"
âNo,â he declared dramatically, pointing a finger at you. âI demand satisfaction! A duel for her honor!â
You were still too stunned to respond, your brain scrambling to make sense of the situation. A duel? Over this? All youâd implied was that the heroine wasnât exactly⊠battle-hardened. Surely that wasnât duel-worthy? This man was acting like youâd called his mother a turnip or something worse.
The heroine, ever the epitome of grace, tried to intervene. âThereâs no need forââ
But Mr. Broody wasnât having it. âNo! Her honor has been besmirched, and I shall defend it with my life!â
Vil, who had been watching this spectacle unfold with an expression of mild disgust, finally rose from his chair. His cool gaze swept over the table, landing on the second male lead with all the intensity of a snake about to strike.
âIf anyoneâs honor has been besmirched,â Vil said icily, âitâs mine. And I will not allow my betrothed to be disrespected by the likes of you.â
You blinked up at Vil, stunned. âWait, youâre going to duel him? Yourself?â
Vil turned his piercing gaze to you, and though his face remained calm, there was a glimmer of something softer in his eyes. âOf course,â he said. âI would never entrust such a matter to anyone else. BesidesâŠâ His lips curled into a smirk. âItâs been a while since Iâve put an upstart in his place.â
You gulped, suddenly feeling a bit light-headed. Was it getting hot in here?
The second male lead, apparently unaware of just how screwed he was, smirked triumphantly. âVery well! Letâs settle this once and for all.â
The duel was set for the next day in your estate gardens. You spent the time leading up to it pacing back and forth in your chambers, wringing your hands in nervous anticipation. Somewhere along the way, youâd decided that you needed to do somethingâanythingâto support Vil. So you had spent hours learning how to embroider a handkerchief, your fingers aching from the effort. By the time you finished, you were practically shaking, but you were proud of the result.
You didnât expect Vil to be touched, let alone notice that youâd worked so hard. But when you handed him the handkerchief just before the duel, his eyes widened in surprise.
âYou made this?â he asked, holding it delicately between his fingers, as if it were some priceless artifact.
You nodded sheepishly. âI figured, you know, for luck. Or to rub it in his face after you beat him. Whichever.â
Vil chuckled, his usually sharp expression softening. âThank you,â he said, his voice low. He then noticed the small needle marks on your hands and frowned. âYou hurt yourself.â
You quickly hid your hands behind your back. âItâs nothing! I mean, Iâm fine. Just a few pricks here and there.â
Vilâs expression softened even further, and for a moment, he looked almost⊠touched. He carefully tucked the handkerchief into his coat pocket, a small but genuine smile tugging at the corners of his lips. âIâll be sure to put this to good use.â
You didnât swoon. Well, maybe just a little.
The duel was, in a word, ridiculous.
The second male lead strutted around like a peacock, his sword gleaming in the afternoon sunlight as he swung it dramatically for the small crowd that had gathered. âPrepare yourself, Schoenheit!â he bellowed, pointing his sword at Vil.
Vil, on the other hand, looked utterly unimpressed. He barely glanced at the man before calmly removing his coat and handing it to you. âHold this, will you?â
You took the coat with a nod, trying not to pass out from how effortlessly graceful he looked even in the midst of preparing for a fight.
The second male lead lunged forward with all the finesse of a drunken ox, his sword clashing loudly against Vilâs. For a moment, it looked like a real duelâuntil Vil, with a single fluid motion, disarmed the man in one clean strike. The second male leadâs sword went flying, landing in the bushes several feet away with a pathetic thud.
The crowd gasped, and you had to stifle a laugh. It had barely been five seconds, and the duel was already over.
The second male lead stood there, stunned, his hand frozen mid-air where his sword had been. He blinked once, twice, then turned bright red with embarrassment. âW-what?!â
Vil, ever composed, didnât even break a sweat. He sheathed his sword and gave the man a cold, dismissive look. âThis duel is over. Consider your demand for satisfaction... fulfilled. Now, kindly leave before you embarrass yourself further.â
You bit your lip, trying not to giggle as the second male lead sputtered and tried to come up with an excuse, but it was clear to everyone that he had been utterly humiliated. Even the heroine, standing off to the side, looked like she was struggling to keep a straight face.
As the second male lead stumbled off, defeated, Vil turned to you and offered his hand. âShall we go?â
You took his hand, still trying to process how easily he had won. âYou were amazing,â you blurted out, your heart fluttering as you gazed up at him. âSeriously, that wasâŠÂ wow.â
Vil smirked, the corner of his mouth twitching with amusement. âOf course I was.â He then leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper. âAnd I expect a proper reward later for defending your honor.â
Your face went beet red, and you were pretty sure youâd forgotten how to breathe.
Yep, you thought as he led you away, his hand still in yours, surviving this trash novel might not be so bad after all.
It happened at one of those overly extravagant banquets the royal court liked to throw. You spotted Neige from across the room, all bright eyes and an innocent smile. He was the epitome of purity, as if his very presence could summon woodland creatures to frolic at his feet.
And you hated him on sight.
You watched in disbelief as everyone around him melted into puddles of admiration. He was practically glowing, and his overly cheerful, squeaky voice was grating on your ears.
The overly saccharine male lead stood there, looking like a cross between a baby bunny and a sentient cupcake. Everything about him screamed "pure-hearted." You nearly gagged on your drink, hoping no one noticed your grimace.
Vil noticed your sour expression and leaned in. âIs something the matter?â
âThatâs him, isnât it?â you said through clenched teeth. âThe one I used to follow around?â
Vil followed your gaze, and for a moment, his lips twitched in the faintest show of amusement. âYes. Thatâs Neige.â
You snorted. "I can't believe anyone in their right mind would prefer him over you."
Vil's lips curled into a smirk, and he tilted his head slightly. âOh? Is that so?â His voice was silky, dangerously low, but you could see the flash of satisfaction behind his eyes.
âYeah,â you muttered, still glaring in Neige's direction. âI mean, look at him. Heâs so⊠good. And not in a âwow, what a decent personâ way. Itâs like heâs one bad haircut away from sprouting fairy wings and breaking into song.â
Vil let out a low chuckle, right next to you ear, (Lord, have mercy) the sound sending shivers down your spine. âI never thought Iâd hear you speak this way about him. Youâve been fawning over Neige for as long as I can remember.â
You rolled your eyes, throwing your hands up. âThat was the old me. The dumb me. I mean, have you seen you?â You gestured dramatically toward him. âHow could anyone even look at Neige when you exist?â
Vil was quiet for a moment, watching you intently. His violet eyes glinted with something unreadable, but you could tell he was pleased. Oh, he was very pleased.
âYou certainly have changed,â he murmured, the smirk never leaving his lips. âAnd I must admit, I find it rather⊠delightful.â
Before you could respond, a very familiar voice rang out from behind you. âAh! What a beautiful reunion this is! A moment filled with lâamour, sparkling like the stars in the sky!â
You nearly jumped out of your skin as Rook Hunt appeared seemingly out of thin air, his hands dramatically clasped together as he beamed at you both. âI have seen many couples in my lifetime, but none quite so radiant as you two.â
You blinked, trying to recover from his sudden appearance. âRook⊠were you just⊠hiding in the curtains again?â
Rook, ever the dramatist, placed a hand on his heart and smiled wistfully. âAh, but how could I stay away when the beauty of your love draws me in like a moth to a flame?â
Vil raised an eyebrow. âRook, youâre not helping.â
âNon, non, mon ami,â Rook insisted, twirling in place with a flourish. âI am merely basking in the glow of what is surely a love for the ages! The way your eyes meet, the subtle tension in the airâit is magnifique!â
You sighed, shaking your head, though you couldnât help but chuckle at Rookâs antics. Meanwhile, from the other side of the ballroom, Epel was watching the scene unfold with barely concealed amusement. He caught your eye and shot you a grin, raising his glass as if to say, Good luck with this.
But the fun wasnât over. Oh no. Neige, the human embodiment of a childrenâs choir, started making his way toward you. As he approached, his bright eyes locked on yours, his smile so innocent and wide that you almost felt bad for what you were about to do.
Almost.
âGood evening!â Neige greeted you, his voice as sweet as sugar. âI donât believe weâve had the chance to properly meet.â
You stared at him for a moment, unimpressed. âYeah, uh-huh.â
Neige blinked, clearly taken aback by your lack of enthusiasm. He probably wasnât used to people not immediately falling at his feet. âItâs truly wonderful to meet you! Iâve heard so much about you.â
You squinted at him. âMm-hmm.â
Vil, standing beside you, looked positively elated. You could practically feel the smug energy radiating off of him. He wasnât even hiding his smile anymore.
Neige continued, oblivious to your complete disinterest. âIâm so glad weâll have the chance to spend time together in the coming months! I hope we canââ
âYeah, no, Iâm good,â you interrupted, turning away and pointedly ignoring his very existence.
Neige blinked again, looking like a lost puppy. You almost felt a little bad. Almost.
Vil, on the other hand, looked like Christmas had come early. His arm slipped around your waist, his touch gentle. âI must say,â he murmured into your ear, his voice laced with amusement, âIâve never enjoyed one of these balls quite so much.â
Yup, maybe this novel isn't that trashy after all?
Everytime you think this novel might not be that bad, it manages to prove you wrong.
The day had finally arrived: the Founding Day Ball. The event to end all events, where the kingdomâs most distinguished were honored in a grand ceremony. And, of course, at the top of the list of honorees was Vil, who might as well have been carved into the actual history of the kingdom itself with how perfect he was.
As his partner for the evening, you were dressed to the nines, dripping in elegance you didnât even know you were capable of. When you caught your reflection in one of the massive ballroom mirrors, you had to do a double-take.
"Who is that?" you whispered, eyes wide. "Oh. Itâs me."
Honestly, if there was a chance of impressing anyone here, you were impressed with yourself.
The ceremony went as expected. Vil was awarded the highest honors, his name met with thunderous applause as he gave a speech that left the crowd swooning. You found yourself half-clapping, half-gawking, wondering how this man kept getting more perfect. Like, was he actually human?
But as the evening progressed, the dreaded scene you despised the most crept into the evening, like a bad smell at a gourmet dinner.
After the ceremony, it was time for the opening dance. Naturally, Vil, being the epitome of grace and nobility, was the prime candidate to lead it. You were fully expecting him to ask you, but before he could even turn in your direction, the heroine â yes, that heroine â appeared out of nowhere, like she was materializing straight from the pages of the worst romance novel ever written.
âVil,â she said in a voice that sounded like honey and broken promises, âI trust youâll grant me the honor of the first dance.â
You blinked. *Excuse me?*
She said it so confidently, as if it were a foregone conclusion, like she was used to the world revolving around her whims. It was the equivalent of someone just cutting the line in front of you at the store and expecting applause for their audacity.
Vil, for his part, didnât even flinch. His expression was as cool and elegant as ever, but you could see a flicker of amusement in his eyes.
âIâm afraid,â he said, voice smooth and polite, âI already have a partner for the first dance.â
The heroineâs face froze in a way that almost made you choke on your own breath. âW-What?â She blinked rapidly, as if her brain couldnât process the fact that someone had just told her no.
You, too, were a little stunned, for a seperate. Was she actually planning on throwing a tantrum right now? In public? At a literal state function?
âB-But you always dance with me,â she stammered, voice rising in disbelief, her face turning an alarming shade of pink. âIâm supposed to be your first dance!â
You physically had to stop yourself from snorting. Always? He has never even looked at her for longer than five seconds! You couldn't recall a single time Vil had given her anything beyond basic pleasantries. The only reason sheâd be in his line of sight was because she was constantly putting herself there.
Vilâs lips twitched slightly, though whether it was out of irritation or amusement, you couldnât tell. âI donât recall ever dancing with you,â he said calmly, as though she were discussing someone else entirely.
The heroine blinked, clearly taken aback. âW-What?â
Vilâs voice dropped to an even icier tone, leaving no room for misunderstanding. âIn fact, I dislike the very idea of it.â
The heroine made a strangled sound behind you, like a baby bird trying to scream.
You looked around the room, half-expecting hidden cameras to pop out, because this had to be a prank. Who acts like this?!
And as you floated onto the dance floor with Vil, you couldnât help but marvel at the absolute insufferable nature of the scene youâd just witnessed. This was, without a doubt, the moment that solidified your hatred for the trash-tier novel world youâd been trapped in. People like her actually existed here?
Behind you, the heroine stomped her foot like a petulant child, completely ignored by the crowd. It wouldâve been almost sad if it wasnât so ridiculous.
And as you twirled under the chandeliers, feeling Vilâs warmth beside you and the heroineâs tantrum echoing faintly in the background, one thing became crystal clear:
This novel may have been trash, but at least you were the one dancing with the prince of perfection.
It hit you like a ton of bricks one dayâcompletely out of nowhere. You had been sitting in Vilâs study, watching him work. He was meticulously going over some documents, his brow furrowed in concentration, his golden hair falling perfectly in place despite him having been there for hours. You were supposed to be reading through some kingdom protocol book, but instead, your gaze kept drifting over to him.
Heâs so⊠beautiful.
You blinked, the thought suddenly snapping you out of whatever trance youâd fallen into.
WaitâŠ
Your eyes widened. Oh no. Oh no no no no no.
You slammed the book shut, startling Vil from his work as you stood up abruptly. âI-I need some air.â
Vil raised an elegant eyebrow, clearly amused by your sudden panic. âSomething the matter?â
âNo! Nothingâs the matter!â you said, far too quickly, your voice an octave higher than usual. You stumbled over your chair in your haste to get out of the room, nearly tripping on your own feet. âI justâneed toâumâfresh air, yes, exactly!â
Before Vil could say anything else, you bolted from the study and down the hall, your heart racing as though youâd just run a marathon. You darted into the nearest empty room and pressed your back against the door, your mind swirling with confusion.
Am I falling for him?
You slapped a hand over your mouth, horrified by the realization. âNo⊠no, this isnât happening. This canât be happening. Iâm in love with a character from this awful, brain-numbing novel?â
You slumped against the door, groaning as the full weight of the situation sank in. How could this happen? How could my first true loveâ you gagged at the phrase âbe from this trash novel?
There was no escaping it now. The butterflies in your stomach every time Vil looked your way, the way your heart skipped a beat whenever he smiled, the fact that you wanted nothing more than to be close to him⊠it was all painfully obvious.
You buried your face in your hands. âIâm going to die. Iâm going to die of embarrassment in this ridiculous world.â
And the worst part? It wasnât even one of the good isekai novels. Youâd somehow gotten stuck in what could be considered objectively the worst one, and yet here you were, head over heels for a character whoâagainst all oddsâturned out to be the most amazing person youâd ever met.
âOh god,â you muttered to yourself, sliding down to the floor, your head falling back against the door with a thud. âI'm in love with Vil. Iâm doomed. Completely doomed.â
âMon Dieu! What a revelation!â a voice suddenly rang out from the shadows.
You yelped, whipping around to see none other than Rook Huntâperched in the corner of the room like some kind of overly dramatic bird of prey, his hat casting a mysterious shadow over his eyes. His entire being radiated excitement, and you swore you saw actual sparkles in the air around him.
âRook?! How long have you been there?!â
âLong enough, my dear,â he said, voice hushed with reverence, as though you had just confessed your deepest, most tragic secret. âAh, love! The torment, the longing! The exquisite despair you must be feeling!â He took a step forward, eyes gleaming with unbridled enthusiasm. âBut fear not, mon ami, for I, Rook Hunt, shall be your faithful cupid! Together, we shall make Vil see the truth of your affections!â
You blinked, stunned. âUh⊠Iâm not sure thatâsâ"
âAh, but you must!" Rook declared, swooping down to kneel dramatically before you. âLove, once realized, must be pursued with all oneâs passion and determination! Do not let this opportunity slip through your fingers like sand in the wind! I shall assist you!â
You opened your mouth to protest, but the sheer intensity of his expression made you falter. Rook was looking at you like this was the most important mission of his life.
Honestly, what did you have to lose at this point?
With a deep, exhausted sigh, you muttered, âFine. Fine! Iâll do it. Help me, Rook.â
Rookâs grin stretched so wide it was borderline terrifying. âExcellent! This will be an adventure for the ages!â Before you could even process what youâd agreed to, Rook leaped to his feet and clapped his hands together. âBut we will need more help. A certain someone with a youthful spirit and just enough mischievousness to add that je ne sais quoi to our plans.â
Oh no.
Cue Epel.
âWhat the hell are you ropinâ me into?â Epel grumbled as Rook dragged him into your predicament not five minutes later.
âI have volunteered you for a most noble cause, mon petit pomme,â Rook said, not even breaking stride as he swept Epel into the room. âOur dear friend here is head over heels for our Vil, and we are going to help them win his heartâ
Epel paused, blinking at you in disbelief. âWait, Vil? That Vil?â He gestured vaguely in the direction of where Vilâs office was.
âYes, that Vil,â you said flatly, already regretting every life decision that had led you to this point.
Epel gave you a dubious look. âAnd you agreed to let Rook help you?â
You groaned, dragging a hand over your face. âDonât remind me.â
âAlright, fine. Iâm in.â Epel shrugged, a wicked grin creeping onto his face. âIf weâre gonna do this, weâre gonna do it big.â
Thus began the most absurd, over-the-top, and borderline catastrophic schemes in an attempt to prove your love to Vil Schoenheit.
It started innocently enough. You wanted to make Vil his favorite tea. Simple, right? But Rook insisted that it couldnât just be any tea. No, it had to be presented with an air of mystery and allure.
âBring it to him while reciting a sonnet of devotion!â Rook suggested. âDeclare your admiration with each step, so that he understands the depth of your feelings!â
âIâm not reciting a sonnet, Rook.â
Epel, on the other hand, was far more pragmatic. âOr you could just⊠write him a note and leave it with the tea?â
That seemed normal. Rational. Youâd take Epelâs advice. So, you snuck into Vilâs room, left the tea and a note on his desk, and slipped out before anyone noticed.
The next morning, Vil eyed you suspiciously over breakfast. âDid you leave tea in my study last night?â
You nodded, trying to play it cool. âYeah, I thought youâd appreciate it.â
Vilâs eyes narrowed, but you swore you saw the corner of his lips twitch into the faintest smile. âI see. How thoughtful.â
Then came Operation: Compliment Vil at Every Opportunity.
Rook, of course, insisted you be poetic. âTell him his beauty rivals the very stars in the sky!â
âIâm not saying that.â
Epel chimed in with a much more straightforward approach: âJust tell him his hair looks nice. Itâs always nice.â
But Rookâs enthusiasm was contagious, and before you knew it, you found yourself blurting out, âYour radiance is blinding today, Vil! Truly, I must shield my eyes from such ethereal beauty!â
Vil, who had been in the middle of inspecting his reflection, froze. His eyes darted to you, and he gave you a strange look.
âAre you⊠feeling alright? Did you perhaps get bitten by a stray Rook?â
You shook your head vigorously, your face heating up from how ridiculous you sounded. âTotally fine! Just⊠appreciating your beauty! Yep. Normal stuff.â
Vil didnât say anything, but you could see a hint of a smirk tugging at his lips. He looked amusedâand maybe a little pleasedâbut more than anything, he seemed confused.
At least he didnât think youâd lost your mind. Yet.
You were convinced this novel had it out for you from the beginning, but this? This was a new low. The memory loss trope, the final attempt to make your life as ridiculous as possible, had arrivedâright on schedule.
You knew how it was supposed to go. Youâd hit your head (a completeïżœïżœaccident, obviously), wake up with no memory of Vil, and immediately make the worst decisions possible, like falling for that knockoff prince, Neige. Cue dramatic heartbreak, public humiliation, and eventual abandonment. Classic trashy novel shenanigans.
But apparently, the universeâor whatever cosmic force was in charge of your sufferingâhad decided to take a vacation after all the work it had been putting in. Because when you opened your eyes and saw Vil leaning over you, worry etched into his perfect face, instead of forgetting him, you were⊠immediately smitten?
What?
And it didnât stop there. When he took your hand in his, gently kissing your knuckles in that heartbreakingly tender way, it was like a light switch flipped. Your memories came rushing back, completely bypassing the whole convoluted plot about amnesia and bad decisions.
Because of course in this disaster of a novel, the solution to everything was true love's kiss. The most overdone, eye-rolling cliché in the history of romance, and yet here you were, living through it.
You almost laughed out loud. Of all the tropes this novel had thrown at youâevil fiancĂ©es, jealous heroines, duels for honorâthis had to be the funniest. It was as if the universe had taken one look at your situation and said, âYou know what? Letâs skip the suffering and go straight to the ridiculous happy ending.â
True loveâs kiss. Really. This novel is mocking me at this point, you thought, fighting the urge to scream. But hey, at least you didnât have to deal with more drama. And as Vilâs concerned gaze softened into a relieved smile, you couldnât help but think that, maybe, this was one trope you didnât mind after all.
You'd almost given up on confessing. Maybe you'll just live like this forever, your fate was sealed. The novel clearly doesn't want you to tell him how you feel.
But there was another ball (because apparently that's the only place that nobility had be at in this novel. What was this? the 108th ball of the year?) You'd decided that you'll ask him for a stroll under the moonlight and just tell him.
Of course, the novel is not on your side. What's new?
The ball was going wellâwell, for you and Vil, anyway. Youâd just finished dancing, and he looked absolutely stunning, as usual. You were basking in the afterglow of all the whispered praise and envious stares. That is, until you overheard someone bad-mouthing Vil.
Of course, it had to be the heroineâs best friend, who was apparently using this grand occasion to air her grievances.
âI just donât understand why Vil is always so cold to her,â she whined, loud enough for everyone within a three-mile radius to hear. âSheâs the saintess! She deserves kindness and adoration, not disdain.â
Cue the dramatic gasps from the crowd. Ah, here we go.
You shot Vil a look, but he merely shrugged, rolling his eyes. He clearly didnât want to start any trouble. But you? Oh, you were about to flip the table on these idiots.
âExcuse me,â you began, stepping forward, the crowd parting like the Red Sea as you made your way over. âI couldnât help but overhear your incredibly loud complaints about my fiancĂ©.â
The heroineâs best friend froze, clearly not expecting you to get involved. You smiled sweetly, but your eyes were throwing daggers.
âLet me set the record straight. Vil isnât cold to her because sheâs the âsaintess,ââ you air-quoted the title, âHeâs cold to her because sheâs an insufferable brat whoâs so used to getting her way that she throws a tantrum every time someone says âno.ââ
More gasps from the crowd. You could see Neige stiffening across the ballroom, already sensing where this was going. But there was no stopping you now.
âAnd donât get me started on you,â you pointed at the best friend, your tone dripping with sarcasm. âYouâre out here defending her honor like youâre some knight in shining armor when, letâs be real, youâre just as bad. You fawn over her like a lost puppy, expecting her to shower you with praise when all you do is enable her delusions.â
Vil, somewhere behind you, was probably trying not to laugh. But you weren't done.
âAnd as for your precious Neige over there?â you tilted your head toward the prince-wannabe, who was looking more and more uncomfortable by the second. âHeâs not some perfect angel either. Heâs just a guy with an unsettling talent for showing up at the most convenient times, with that same doe-eyed, clueless expression, making everyone feel sorry for him.â
You didnât stop at Neige.
"And as for you," you said, spinning toward the brooding Duke of the North, the infamous second male lead, who had been leaning against a pillar, looking every bit the tall, tormented, handsome clichĂ©. âYouâre not fooling anyone either. Youâre the king of melodramatic entrances. Always lurking in the shadows, trying to look mysterious, but really, youâre just sulking because no oneâs paying attention to you.â
âOh, Iâm sorryâare you brooding? Again? Let me guess, youâre thinking about some dark secret that youâll drop at the most inconvenient moment to make things worse for everyone, right?â You mimicked his deep, serious voice. ââItâs the burden I must bear⊠alone.ââ You threw your head back in mock agony, hands dramatically placed on your chest.
He straightened up, clearly offended, but you didnât give him the chance to speak.
âAnd stop pretending like youâre some tragic hero,â you added, lowering your voice with a sharp edge. âYouâre just a guy with commitment issues who sacrifices himself because you canât handle the fact that the heroine doesnât want you. Let it go.â
There was dead silence. You half-expected a chandelier to drop just for the dramatic effect. Even Vil had to look away for a moment, probably to hide the fact that he in tears, about to burst out laughing.
The heroine was slack-jawed, her best friend looked like she wanted to melt into the floor, and Neige⊠well, Neige just looked confused. As always.
Satisfied, you dusted off your hands and turned back to Vil, who was looking at you with a mixture of shock and awe, as if heâd just witnessed some divine intervention.
You let out a satisfied huff and turned to leave. "Come on, Vil, I can't stand to be in the same room as these second-rate characters any longer, let's bounce"
Once outside, you saw Vil was still recovering, a smirk pulling at his lips. âI think you may have traumatized half the ballroom.â
âGood,â you huffed, crossing your arms. âThey deserved it. Especially that brooding Duke. âI sacrifice myself for the greater good.â Ugh, give me a break.â
Vil chuckled, sliding his arm around your waist. "Still, you didnât have to go to such lengths for me."
You stopped in your tracks, spun around, and looked him dead in the eye. âOf course I did! I love you, Vil. I couldnât just sit there and let them trash you like that.â
The moment the words left your mouth, you froze. Oh. Well. There it was.
Vilâs eyes widened, a rare, unguarded expression crossing his face. For a moment, he just stood there, taking in your words. Then, without a word, he cupped your face in his hands and kissed you, soft but sure, like heâd been waiting for this moment as much as you had.
When he pulled back, his smile was the softest youâd ever seen. âYou love me,â he repeated, almost like he couldnât believe it.
You nodded, a bit breathless from both the confession and the kiss. âYes, Vil. I love you. Even with all your ridiculously high standards and obsession with skincare.â
Vil laughed, the sound warm and genuine. âYou have no idea how long Iâve wanted to hear you say that.â
Vil pulled back slightly, his hands still resting on your waist, and asked with a quiet, almost teasing tone, "Well then, since you love me so much... should we get married?"
You blinked, your brain taking a second to catch up. "Waitâwhat? Married? Like, right now?" You stared at him, heart racing, before suddenly, an idea lit up your face like a firework. âOh my god, yes! Letâs do it. Letâs get married ASAP. Like, today. Right now. Do we even need a ceremony? We can find an officiant andâboomâdone. Just tell me where to sign!â
Vilâs eyes widened, taken aback by your sudden enthusiasm. âAre you⊠serious?â
You grabbed his hand, absolutely buzzing with energy. âOf course, Iâm serious! Why wait? This dumbass universe keeps throwing garbage tropes at us, and honestly? Getting married right now is the perfect way to flip the script! Take that, fate!"
Before Vil could respond, an overly excited voice erupted from behind a nearby pillar. âOh lĂ lĂ ! Mon cĆur can hardly handle this romance!â Rook leaped out from the shadows, practically sparkling with joy, as if he had been waiting for this very moment all his life. "The passion! The declaration of love! And now, a spontaneous wedding? Magnifique!â
âRook!?â Vilâs voice was a mix of amusement and exasperation. âHave you been spying on us?â
âSpying?â Rook gasped dramatically, placing a hand on his chest. âNon, non, Vil! I was merely ensuring your well-being as any devoted friend would!â He gave a wink, clearly pleased with his role as an unintended audience.
âMe too!â Epel poked his head out from behind another pillar, grinning sheepishly. âI mean, whoâd wanna miss out on somethinâ like this? Yâall are gettinâ married!â
Vil let out a long, tired sigh, but you could see the faintest smile tugging at the corners of his lips. âI canât believe this is happening,â he muttered.
âOh, itâs happening,â you said, grabbing his arm again and dragging him forward. âWeâre doing this, and itâs going to be the best wedding in this entire stupid book, Rook, Epel, youâre both invited. Wait, scratch that, youâre both in the wedding party now!â
âCâest incroyable!â Rook twirled dramatically, hands clasped together, already imagining his outfit for the occasion. âI shall be the most loyal and stylish groomsman! Oh, lâamour!â
âAnd I get to wear somethinâ fancy, right?â Epel asked, already envisioning something much cooler than his usual attire.
Vil was now fully grinning, his initial surprise turning into genuine amusement as he looked at you with sparkling eyes. âYou really are something else.â
âYeah, and now Iâm gonna be your something else forever.â You beamed up at him, still holding onto his hand like you might drag him to the altar yourself right now.
âWell then,â Vil sighed, leaning down to kiss your forehead. âLetâs get married.â
Before you could even start plotting where to drag Vil to find someone to officiate, Rook suddenly gasped, clasping his hands together dramatically. "Mon dieu! How could I forget? I am more than prepared for this moment!"
You and Vil exchanged puzzled looks. "What are you talking about, Rook?" Vil asked, raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow.
Rook grinned, remviong his hat and and dramatically pulling out a folded piece of parchment. "Behold!" he announced, waving the paper with a flourish. "A certified license to officiate weddings. I took the liberty of acquiring it long ago, knowing that one day Iâd be the one to unite you and your beloved. Câest le destin!"
âYouâreâŠÂ licensed?â Vil blinked, looking at Rook like he had officially lost it. "And you're walking around with the license in your hat?"
Rook nodded with a dazzling smile. âWhy yes, Iâve been preparing for this glorious day! Every flower petal, every gust of wind, every glance of love Iâve witnessed between you both has been leading to this fated moment!â He struck a pose, the parchment still dramatically held aloft.
You stared at him, then back at Vil. "Okay, I know this is ridiculous, but honestly? This is the funniest thing Iâve ever heard, and I kind of love it. Let's just let him do it."
Vil put a hand to his forehead, trying to suppress a chuckle. "Are we really doing this?"
âYes!â you declared, squeezing Vil's hand. âIf weâre going full chaos, weâre going all the way. Rook, officiate the hell out of this wedding!â
Epel, watching the entire spectacle, burst into laughter. âOnly in this house, I swearâŠâ
Rook practically sparkled with joy, bouncing on his feet. âOh lĂ lĂ , it will be my greatest honor! Iâve been rehearsing my officiating speech in front of the mirror for monthsâ
âMonths?â Vil repeated, a mix of disbelief and exasperation in his tone.
âMais oui! Every day, Iâd wake up and say, âToday could be the day!ââ Rook sighed dramatically, already tearing up. âAnd here we are. Itâs everything Iâve ever dreamed of. Now, shall we begin? I have the vows prepared, unless you have your own?â
You leaned into Vil, barely holding back laughter. âI have zero regrets about this. Absolutely zero.â
Vil sighed again but couldnât stop smiling. âOnly you could make something this absurd seem perfect.â

-Aegon Targaryen x Wife!Reader
{Aegon takes pleasure in his cups⊠and in between your thighs although itâs all the same to him}
!!-18//MDNI-!! I was listening to Amy Whinehouse whilst writing this, enjoy my loveliesđ
ââșââ âŸââșââ ââșââ âŸââșââ ââșââ âŸââșââ ââșââ âŸââșââ ââșââ âŸââș
The hour of the bat was well and truly upon Kings Landing, the crescent moon resting against the abyss of the night sky as it casts down a silvery hue that bleeds throughout the Red Keep. With the absence of the sun, you found peace, resting on the velvety divan with a book in hand.
You were lost within the chapters as Aegon paces the length of your bedchambers before collapsing next to you on the divan, leaning up against cushions with a heavy sigh.
âThey all belittle me⊠they all take me for a fool.â He huffs, pointing over to the door of your chambers, still complaining about todayâs council meeting with a deep frown. You had already said your piece yet it seems Aegon was not done venting to you.
He looks up to you, opening his mouth to complain about how you âneed to pay attention to him and not the bookâ however the words fall short, dissolving on the tip of his tongue as he stares at you completely star-stuck.
His lips curl into a lopsided grin, the sight of you and the slightly sheer fabric of your nightslip that veils your body, how the fireplace bathes you in a warm orangey light, you had a beauty that captivated him wholly.
âFuck them⊠fuck, all of them.â He declares suddenly, although deep down he doesnât mean the words, not really, you can tell by the way his amethyst eyes flicker with hesitation, glancing down at his fidgeting hands.
âAegonââ you start, but your words are quickly cut off by him, his rough palm resting against your cheek.
His gaze meets your own, shuffling closer to you, his lips curling downwards in a nonchalant manner. âNo, I donât need any of them, just you.â His words are hushed, only meant for your ears.
With a sigh your eyes soften in an understanding, for you know his only desire is to be admired or at the very least just simply liked. You close your book, leaning over him to place it on the wooden table.
âAnd you have me, no matter what the future holds.â You reaffirm his words, watching him closely as he lets out a shaky sigh which he tries his best to conceal.
There was an instability in Aegonâs life, save for you, his only constant in a world of ever-changing conditions. Perhaps that is why he clings to you the way he does, arms wrapped tightly around your soft waist with his head nuzzled into the crook of your neck.
âI am not as malleable as they think⊠I will win, I will burn down anyone who goes against me.â He whispers against the curve of your jaw, confidence weighing against his tone. His hand slips in between the gap of your nightslip to caress your bare waist down to your hip, the cool metal of his wedding band sends a chill down your spine.
He needed a distraction, the pressure from the heavy crown he never asked for was too much for him to endure alone. He needed to not feel like such a disappointment for even just a small moment.
He kisses the small spot behind your ear, an invitation, to which your head instinctively tilts to the side, enticing him to leave open-mouthed kisses along your neck. His lips linger against your pulse point with a small grin, the sound of your pleasured sigh hitting his ears.
âOf course, I do not doubt you, you know that.â You whisper through a shaky voice, steeped in desire. Your body jolts, a soft gasp, at the feeling of his teeth nipping the sensitive skin on your throat before kissing the spot once then twice.
He hums in acknowledgement, pulling back to admire you. His palm still cupping your cheek with a certain hint of possessiveness, it shows in the way he thumbs at your bottom lip. âHmm, you might be the only one who does, my pretty wife.â He whispers, all of his worries and troubles slowly ebbing away.
The atmosphere around the pair of you suddenly changes, the air becoming so thick that youâre sure it could snuff out the candles around you.
âYours⊠all yours Aegon.â The words come out in one breath, tumbling past your parted lips as his fingertips graze along your lower abdomen, slipping through the coarse hair on your mound before dipping past your slick folds.
The rough pads of his finger slides along your slit to collect your wetness before finding your clit, rubbing slow circles against the sensitive bud, testing the waters, as you melt into the divan. Aegon chuckles against your shoulder, enjoying the way your thighs spread and your hips writhe with desperation for more.
He sinks down onto the floor, kneeling between your thighs, ready to pray at the altar of your body. He immediately pushes the silk fabric of your nightdress up past your thighs, letting it pool around your hips.
âIâve been deprived of you for weeksâŠâ he mutters, leaving marks against your hip-bones, sucking at the sensitive skin, before soothing them with a gentle kiss or two.
You watch his lilac eyes go dark with a carnal craving, the way his hands greedily feel up your thighs, squeezing the supple fat harshly, it all only elicits more gasps and moans from you.
He coos against the inside of your thigh, nudging one leg over his shoulder and propping the other up on the divan to spread out in front of him, the sight of your soaked cunt going straight to his hardening cock. âIâll be gentle⊠so gentle.â He smirks, a lie, lips trailing over your inner thighs with all tongue and teeth as your hips buck upwards in anticipation.
He tuts, fingers digging into your hips to keep you still. All too suddenly heâs tugging you closer to him roughly, making you slouch against the cushions of the divan with a shocked gasp.
Your fingers bury within his white choppy hair, pulling him closer to your aching heat as his tongue trails along your cunt, flicking against your clit with a groan. He smirks into your soaked folds, the sound of your whiny moans, the way his name falls from your parted lips in a hunger only he could satisfy, it all makes his skin burn.
âKeep moaning⊠let me hear you.â He encourages, words muffled against your slickness, lips pressed to your clit, leaving open-mouthed kisses against your sensitive bud trying to elicit more sweet noises from your lips as he hums in delight.
A broken moan escapes you, your hips grinding upwards in tandem with his lips and tongue. âOh, Aegon⊠more please.â You cry out, a woman possessed by pleasure.
It is the same possession that causes you to arch your back up from the divan to try and get closer to him. His fingers squeezing into your hips, a warning, his tongue lapping up your desire before teasing your entrance, practically drinking from you as if you were a chalice of Arbor Red.
Aegon flattens his tongue against your cunt, licking up to your clit once more with a muffled moan, sucking on it with delight. âTastes so sweetâŠâ The vibrations from his words only serve to add to the searing heat that begins to pool deep within your lower abdomen, leaving you a panting mess.
âAegon, donât stop⊠Iâm so close.â your hands pull helplessly at his hair, drawing him impossibly closer. He chuckles at your wanton need, how you shamelessly grind yourself against his mouth without a care in the world.
He pushes his fingers inside of you with ease, humming in pleasure at the way your heat sucks in his digits. Aegon fucks you with them you at a tantalising pace whilst licking at your sensitive bud. You look down at him, your mouth agape, watching his head move against you so eagerly as you teeter along the line of release.
âGodsâ Aegon!â You cry out his name with a broken moan, your slick walls clamping around his fingers as he continues to curl them deep inside you, still kissing greedily at your clit. He mumbles sweet, loving words of encouragement as he drinks up your orgasm. The wet sounds fill the silence of your bedchambers as you come down from your high with shaky breaths that come out in puffs.
He looks up at you with a cocky smirk, pride blooming through his chest, his lips and chin slick with your release. He pushes himself back onto the divan, leaning over you. âYou are truly all I need, all I want.â He whispers feverishly, his fingers wrapping around your jaw to bring your lips to his own.
The taste of you against his lips is all you need to deepen the messy kiss, both of you melting into each other's warmth in a mixture of lust and love. He would take this as long as he could, until you were completely satiated. And even then, he would push for more. He was addicted to you.
ââșââ âŸââșââ ââșââ âŸââșââ ââșââ âŸââșââ ââșââ âŸââșââ ââșââ âŸââșâ

Little Terrors
Lando Norris wants to jump his wife's bones. She has to remind him of the consequences of unprotected sex
Dad!Lando
God, his wife looked so sexy. After three kids, she still had it. But that wasn't a surprise to him, he knew she was damn sexy, and she always would be.
Even when she wasn't trying.
No, she was just sitting on the bed, reading her book. (Faerie smut, she'd read chapter fifty-five to him and he'd been horrified. That was what his wife was into?)
Her old pyjamas, stretched out and slipping down her body, not hiding much at all, looked so damn sexy on her. It had him crawling across the bed towards her.
He pushed her book away and pressed tender kisses to her lips. "Can I?" He whispered, pawing at her pyjamas like a horny teenager.
She giggled at him and let him pull her pyjama top over her head. Immediately, he kissed down her chest, hips desperately grinding against the bed sheets. "Lan," she laughed, hands moving through his curls. "Go and get a condom."
He pulled away from her to search through his bedside table for the packet of condoms. The empty packet of condoms. "Shit," He mumbled as he sat back.
She took the box from his hands, checking to see if it really was empty. "Oh, baby," she mumbled as she tugged at his curls again. "We can get some and try again tomorrow night."
But then his eyes lit up and he grinned. "Or we could just not use any protection," he suggested and attached his lips to her neck, trying to convince her.
The laugh that escaped her lips couldn't be considered pretty, but Lando still loved it. "Are you joking me?" She asked as she pushed him away. "You really want another child? Did you forget about the three devil spawns we already have?"
The Personal Massager
"Dad?"
Lando hummed as he drank his coffee. "What do you want, Wy?" He asked his six year old son and oldest child.
He sat back in his seat and turned his attention to Wyatt Norris. He had his dads same curls but, other than that, he was almost the spitting image of his mother.
He was damn cute and could probably get away with murder.
When Lando looked up and saw what Wyatt had in his hands, his face fell. "Do you think mum would mind if I borrowed her massager?" He asked so damn innocently.
Lando's face paled. "Yeah, Wy. She'd be very upset if you borrowed her massager," he said and tried to snatch it away from his son.
But Wyatt saw the way his father's expression changed. And now it was time for some fun.
He held it behind his back, away from his father. "Are you sure?" He asked. "I don't think she'll mind. Can you call her so I can ask her?"
"No, Wyatt! Give it here!" He tried again to reach for it, but Wyatt went running through the house. Forgetting his coffee, Lando chased after him.
It was all just fun and games to little Wyatt Norris. He didn't realise what he had in his hands, didn't know that he had to put it down! "Wyatt! Come back here!" His father roared as he chased him up the stairs.
Wyatt giggled as he tried to shut himself in his bedroom. But Lando caught the door and threw it open. Wyatt looked at his father, ready to laugh at him, but the look on his face had him falling quiet. His dad was the good cop, the one that didn't get angry. But, right now, Wyatt knew he was in for it.
"Give it," Lando said, holding out his hand.
Wyatt placed the... massager in his fathers hands and awaited his punishment. "Grounded," Lando said, immediately.
"Why?" He asked, but Lando didn't answer, didn't get stuck in that loop. One response to why, and it was all Lando was going to be hearing for the rest of the way.
The Paddock
Lando's little princess could do no wrong. She was the youngest of three, barely old enough to talk, but she already knew she had her father wrapped around her little finger.
Lando loved taking his kids to the track. His boys holding onto him in some way while he carried Arabella to the McLaren garage. His fellow drivers stopped the three of them to say hello to the boys and coo at just how cute Ari Norris was.
She really was cute, but that was what made her so damn dangerous.
For once, the boys were on their best behaviour as Lando took them into the McLaren garage. He almost couldn't believe it, but he stayed quiet. The moment he was to say something, they would have been running around, out of control.
He sat the boys in his drivers room with something to read while he carried Arabella around the garage on his hip.
"There she is," Oscar called as he grinned across the garage. Oscar Piastri loved Arabella Norris. But Arabella Norris did not love Oscar Piastri.
He cooed as he approached and Arabella giggled as she reached towards him. Acting as though she loved him. Nobody was ready for what was to come.
As soon as Ari was settled in her Uncle Oscar's arms, her face went red, screwed up, and she started screaming. Her cries were so damn loud, echoing through the garage.
It was an awful, horrible sound. Oscar's eyes went wide as he stared at the screaming child in his arms. "Lando!" He called, but not much could be heard over Ari's screaming.
But, the moment Lando heard his daughter screaming, he was making his way back across the garage. "C'mon, Ari," he mumbled as he took her and kissed the top of her head. "It's just your Uncle Osc." But there was no way she could hear him.
Sighing, Lando took her back to his drivers room. He bounced her until she calmed enough to fall asleep against him.
Arabella Norris wanted attention from her father and nobody else. The moment somebody that wasn't her father was holding her (with the occasional exception of her mother), she was screaming the house down for him.
The Broken Stuff
Hugo Norris was the clumsiest child in the world.
"Are you sure you've got it?" His mother asked as he began walking out of the kitchen with a glass of lemonade in his hands.
Hugo rolled his eyes. But the second he had done it, his face was flushing and he was full of regret. He should not have done that. "I got it, mama," he said and walked out of the kitchen.
For a little while, everything was fine. Mrs Norris listened out for the unmistakable sound of glass shattering as she cleaned up from lunch. But it never came, and she released a relieved breath.
But then she heard it. The unmistakable sound of glass shattering. "Oops," came Hugo's voice. His mother didn't hear it, though. She grabbed the dustpan and brush and went rushing to the room her middle child had disappeared into.
"Oh, Hugo," she mumbled.
Hugo didn't even have socks on. Placing the dustpan and brush down, she grabbed her child and carried him out of the room, placing him in the hallway. "I'll get you another drink in a minute, Hugs," she said and sent him up to his room (he wasn't in trouble, she just needed a moment to clean up.)
While she cleared up the shattered glass, things were quiet. Wyatt was reading in his room, Arabella was down for a nap, and Hugo was waiting for her to bring him a drink in a plastic cup. She loved her clumsy child, even if he was a little exhausting sometimes.
She didn't hear the second crash over the sound of the hoover, collecting up the tiny bits of glass that she couldn't see with her naked eye. Didn't realise anything had been broken until she headed upstairs with another drink for Hugo.
One of Lando's trophies was in several pieces on the floor. "Oh, Hugo," she mumbled for the second time that day. She walked a little further down the hall and knocked on Hugo's door.
When she pushed the door open, Hugo was hiding beneath his blankets. "Baby," she said as she sat on the end of the bed and placed the water on his bedside table. "Tell me honestly, did you break your fathers trophy?"
He sniffled. "He's gonna be so mad," He cried.
She shook her head. "No, baby. He'll understand and we can always get it fixed. You know, your father used to break trophies back in the day."
Hugo pulled the blanket away from his head. "He did?"
She laughed and launched into the story.
Back to the bedroom
The Norris's laughed as they recounted the stories of their little terrors. "Okay," Lando said, tossing the empty box of condoms to the floor. "Maybe we could do with one more," he said as he rested his body on top of her own. "What do you say mamas? Wanna make another?"
She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. "One more couldn't hurt, I suppose," she giggled and kissed him.
That night, and every night for the next few weeks, was what led to her pregnancy. But it was expected and it was what they had wanted. Just one more baby.
Just. The. One.
At her twelve week scan, they found out they were having twins. Oh, she was going to kill her husband.

Play ideas for chronically ill, disabled, or otherwise bed bound/low energy littles
Hi all! I am chronically ill. I am not comfortable sharing my specific diagnosis, but I am more than okay with talking about disability in general. Everything below is based on my own personal experiences and activities I like to do while stuck in bed. Everyone's body and experiences are different. I may list some things that just aren't an option for you, and that's okay. You are more than welcome to add on to this post with activities you do too!
đ Open the curtains and cloud watch! I like to look for clouds that remind me of animals or characters and day dream a story about them. If the weather is nice, consider opening your window a little bit and letting some fresh air into your room.
đŠ Bird watch! I have a bird feeder outside my window that I painted myself from a kid's kit. There are also bird feeders that have suction cups that can be stuck right on your window. You can also make your own seed ornaments. You could pick yourself up a kids book or two on learning to identify birds.
đ· Get a window planter. You may need someone's help to set one up, but once they are in place they are fairly easy to care for. I like pansies and marigolds because they remind me of childhood, and they are low maintenance and do well in containers.
đ Audiobooks are great for middles who want to read chapter books. If you have a library card you can borrow tons of audiobook, ebooks, and comics through hoopla and Libby for free. There are some audiobooks for younger kiddo books, but honestly I think YouTube is better for that.
đŒïž Scrapbooks and journals! Being penpals with another little is also an option, but I do recommend using basic internet safety and common sense. (I don't think you should do this if you are under 18). You could always scan/take pictures of your letter and send it digitally to your penpal instead.
đïž If you spend a lot of time in bed, and have the money to do so, I really recommend getting items to make your time in bed more comfortable. Extra pillows, or even a reading pillow can be helpful. Lap desks or bed tables can give you space to color or set up play scenes with small toys.
đ You can also decorate the area around your bed to make it more child like! Fairy lights, glow in the dark stars, bed canopies, posters, and the like.
đȘ I have a floor chair I use for times I am playing outside of my bed. Being close to the floor helps me feel small, but not having back support hurts after a short while. I have an adjustable one that I can lay flat on the floor as a sleeping mat. Very helpful for the times when I need a quick nap after playtime.
đš Check the seasonal and kids sections at dollar stores and Five Below. I usually find fun craft kits that can keep me occupied for a bit for really cheap.
𧶠Do your own crafts! I like the knit and crochet. Some people can do them in bed, but I find it difficult to find a comfortable way to do that. However making friendship bracelets in bed works out pretty well. They make great gifts, even for non little friends. Or you could make matching ones for you and your CG or favorite plushie!
đȘ Make your own sensory bin! You can find tons of tutorials and ideas online. Bonus is you can get most of the items you would use at the dollar store. There are tons of other DIY sensory toys you can make as well if you look around. Glitter/shaker bottles are pretty popular too.
đ Cuddle with your stuffed animals. Tell them stories. Play pretend. Read to them. They will appreciate all of it.
đź If you have an old 3DS stuffed away in a drawer somewhere, pull it back out. 3DS are fairly easy to install homebrew and there are toooons of kiddo friendly games you could get (check 3ds.hacks.guide for this, do not follow tutorials on YouTube or random websites as they very well could be outdated)
đ Decorate your medicine organizers with stickers. If you use mobility aids you can decorate them as well! Fake flowers are great for decorating mobility aids and there are tons of ideas you can find online.
đŒ I have stomach problems that makes it hard for me to eat enough. I often drink Ensure to make sure I am getting enough calories/nutrients. I get the strawberry flavor and sometimes put it in my sippy cup and pretend it is strawberry milk đ
đŽ If you need rest, rest! You deserve to get as much sleep as your body needs. Babies and toddlers take naps all the time! Trying to just exist with chronic health issues is difficult enough. You don't need to push yourself.

Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3
MASTERLIST
tara carpenter x fem!reader
summary: Finally, the group project comes to an end, and you wonât have to deal with Taraâs attitude anymore. Only if you knew what was coming, maybe then you would rather pick that crazy Carpenter...
tags: enemies to lovers, they are on it again, y/n got a new admirer, tara almost died, cozy, fluff
word count: 1.5k
You were currently sitting in a cafeteria. Wereses you had some free time before the last class so you agreed to meet there with Tara and continue with your project.
It has been a few weeks since you have been working on it and moved succesfully foward. Both of you were happy it finally moved to itŽs end, this was something that was annoying your lives for these last days. Or more like you were annoying to one another.
âDo you think it can be like this?â You turned your notebook into TaraÂŽs direction. She red the notes and noded her head. âGreat, so we just need to make the conclusion.â
You were sitting opposite of each other in one of the back tables. Behind your back was a big window with a sigh to a whole campus.
âYeah, I think itÂŽs perfect.â You looked at the girl in front of you. Her bangs got longer, you wonder if she wants to cut it again or let it grow. She was wearing a dress to her knees with a flowers on it. The weather today was pretty good despite the grey clouds above your heads. It looked like it would start raining anytime soon.
Your eyes scanned the room. There wasnŽt a lot of people today, everybody was probably studying at home for exams or taking class. You caught eyes of the girl on the other side. She was sitting alone with just book in her hands and caffee by her side. Your eyes met and she smiled at you, which you return.
It was almost time for the exam so you both agreed to do it later in your apartment. As soon as you both stepped outside you could feel the drops of water falling onto your skin. With fast steps you came inside the campus but still with your clothes wet. You looked at Tara and saw how her strands of her were stuck on her forehead from the rain.
You burst out laughing. The girl turned to you with angry eyes. âStop laughing!â She pushed you into your chest and you stumbled a little. Tara was holding her phone with the front camera trying to brush her wet hair and clean the mascara that was now on her eyelids.
âIÂŽve seen you looking worse.â You said as you adjust the strap on your shoulder.
âYou look worse all the time.â
Your mouth hung down as you kept looking at her back as she kept walking away from you into the hallways of the campus. No, you wonŽt leave it just like this, she will eat it with a winch.
-
You were standing in a aisle of a small shop by the corner of the neighbourhood were you lived. One of your hands was holding a small shopping basket and the other one was holding milk as you were reading the back of it.
The notification of your phone cut you from it as you put the milk back and took your phone to check the text from Ethan. Last time you shared the class you talked about the video games and how you enjoy playing them. After that he asked you if you wanted to play with him some time, which of course you couldnÂŽt decline.
âAre you intolerant?â Your whole body twinched at the sudden voice you heard behind you. You almost dropped your phone as you were trying to put in back in your pocket. With a quick motion you turned around.
âOh, IÂŽm sorry IÂ didnÂŽt want to scare you.â The girls eyes widen with apologizing look in her eyes.
âItÂŽs fine, you just caught me off guard.â You said to her. She was familiar to you but you couldnÂŽt really remember when did you see her.
She laughed at your words and looked behind you again. âYeah, I saw that you were deep in the reading the back of the milk.â The girl teased you a little. âYou were trying to find lactose-free milk or something?â
âUhm yeah.â No, you didnÂŽt have a reason to read it you just wanted to and it would look dumb if you said that you just wanted to read it. What the fuck would she think?
âOh then IÂ think you are looking the wrong way, the lactose-free is over there.â She pointed at the direction of the other side of the shelf.
âAh! My bad, looks like you know it better than me.â You rubbed the back of your neck with a nervous smile.
The girl bit the side of her cheek gently looking at the ground and then up to you. âNo problem, if you need anything else just tell me, IÂŽll be glad to help.â She smiled.
By that smile you already knew who it was, the girl from the cafeteria. Damnit, she really needed to see you now? In your homeless fit for no oneâs eyes to see. You were sure nobody would see you so you grabbed whatever was under your touch. Fucking embarassing.
You laughed nervously and thanked her making your way to the direction she was pointing earlier.
You need to buy this milk now you stupid imbecile.
âI recommed you this one.â She grabbed the milk from the shelf. âItÂŽs probably my favourite.â This girl canÂŽt rest, can she?
âYou seem like you know what you are talking about.â You said.
âOh yes! IÂ only drink these types of milks.â
You softly grabbed the milk from her hands and put that in your basket with a embarassing smile on your face.
âUhm thanks for advice IÂ guess... uhm see you next time?â You turned around and walked away from the girl. The vibe felt pretty embarassing so you felt urge to just walk away with her eyes still following you.
-
Tara was now again in your room finishing the project. Every time you spend time with the girl you needed to hold yourself on a leash but these past weeks when you were together, just you and her alone you felt like you were doing some kind of patience class.
How many times you held yourself from jumping on her because of the anger or holding the tongue behind your teeths because of some offending shit she said. That little brat didnÂŽt know how to act but you couldnÂŽt change that. Well, not like you tried.
You hummed to her as you brought her glass of water she asked earlier. The girl noded with her head taking the drink from the desk slowly learning back her back against your gaming chair. You sat back on your bed as always continueing with your work.
âIÂŽm so glad we are finally at the end.â She said with her eyes closed and her head tilt back.
âYup.â
She looked at your way. âYou know, IÂŽm pretty surprised.â You rised your eyebrows at her. âIÂ mean the first day IÂ was sitting on the floor and look at me now.â She spin herself around on your chair. âIÂŽm sitting in your spot.â
âSo?â
Tara stopped and looked back at you. âI calmed down your agressive ass.â
âMine agressive ass?â you asked in disbelive with a high voice. âLast time I check you were like that. I donÂŽt even know how that much of evil can fit into your small ass body.â
âSee! IÂ wouldnÂŽt be like that if you werenÂŽt! IÂ was saying something nice and you are you again!â
âMe?! You- Argh!â this is exactly what she wants from you Y/N... DonÂŽt let her get into your head.
You breathed out the air from you chest and calmed your nerves. Tara smirked at you, in her eyes she won, like every time.
After that both of you were quiet once again and focused on the work. After finishing you went through the whole thing, scanning it and trying to correct the flaws that were left. Your strong focus was cut by TaraÂŽs deep breathing. At first you thought she was just getting frustrated at something she found in her phone but as the seconds were passing by it was worse.
Of course.
You slowly stood up and left your room. You made your way into her bag that was left in the hallway of the apartment. She must have it here. Your hand went into her bag and was trying to find her inhaler. There wasnÂŽt anyway she wouldnÂŽt have it in her bag right? At the end of the day, her health was depent on that little thing.
When you finally found it you brough it to her. Her hand was already on her chest and her eyes were closed, trying to calm herself.
âHere.â You took her hand that was resting on your chair and put the inhaler into her palm. She looked at the object you handed her and then up at you with her big brown eyes. You huffed and took her hand up to her mouth to use the inhaler.
Finally after when TaraÂŽs breathing was calmed you stepped back and sat on your bed still looking at the brunette.
âBetter?â she noded at your words giving you a small thank you. She looked somehow ashamed of herself, looking into her hands that were resting in her lap. Suddenly her head shot back at you with wide eyes.
âYou were digging in my purse?!â
âI just saved your life!â
âI swear to God-â

Hi! Can i ask for a self aware twst when the reader surprises adopted Silver as their son. Like just pointing at him and saying 'you are my child now' with Silver, Lilia and Sebek. Hope you have a good day!
Hehe. Anon, you know what you are doing. In fact, I would say you even want the chaos. And for that I love you come here so I can hug you.
Self-aware au
I do not take any responsibility for you reading this no matter which age group you are from!
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, Diasomnia chapter spoilers (Lilias part, maybe Sebek), religion, violence, isolation, kidnapping, obsessive behavior
Lilia Vanrouge/(Platonic) Silver/Sebek Zigvolt-Adopting Silver
Oh ok. Cool cool coolcoolcoolcoolcool
Well, at least that one room dedicated to you in the form of an altar can now be used for more practical uses (finally)
When Lilia heard you say those words and point at his son, he fell from the chandelier he was dangling from
Not only did he have to navigate through not accidentally telling his son that he was the blood related son of an enemy general and that exactly this general killed Malleus mom
But also that he had now a second parent that also happened to be god
Mhm totally normal
Conversations to strangers about his family were already playing out like this in his head:
Hi, I am Lilia Vanrouge, yes the one in your history book, this is my son Silver, yes he looks like a certain knight, and my lovely partner and also parent of this lovely human, yes, FU**ING GOD THEMSELVES
Ah yes, sitting in church will totally not be awkward after this
Bro legit sits you down with a pen and paper, asking you to sign the marriage certificate
Asks you what flowers you want to have on your wedding. Doesn't matter if you are a woman, man or identify as something else, he is planning that
Also has already planned out how to get you into the Valley of Thorns without anyone noticing
Because no matter how devoted he is to you, he will always be too greedy to share your attention with someone else
You could have said this as a joke or some other protective instinct towards the silver-haired male but all that man's father hears is a marriage proposal
Lilia is just happy that you feel some sort of positive way to his family member (makes things easier when you are stuck in that cabin)
I mean, he did see Silver as a present from you, a child meant to bring him back to the light after being so long in the shadow of war
And now the three of you were together! How lovely!
Which would mean that you planned this all along. Dear Overseer, if you liked the idea of you being a family you could have just told him so
He will be the best partner to raise a child together you could dream of
And should someone dare to interrupt the perfect, peaceful life you three (plus two more) had, he wouldn't mind swinging that sword again
Wait what?
What do you mean with that?
Are you sure you want him to be your son? Really?
Apparently he was not the only one surprised since he could hear the thud of his father falling to the ground behind him and Seek screaming somewhere behind him
Be prepared for a silver haired knight to look at you with the biggest puppy eyes and ask "Do you really want me as you son?"
Critical hit! Someone call a doctor. I think the Valley of Thorns god can be killed by cuteness
After that he is glued to your side (even though you have to part sooner or later since he is not living in Ramshackle)
One morning you woke up to the guy standing there with some food being like "I made some food."
Like where the Heck did he even get the keys for the dorm? (He broke in through a hole in the ceiling)
Silver always comes running to you whenever he does something and wants praises
Once he was best in one of his classes and he stood there with the report like he could turn into a dog and get headpats from you any second
But, as I am sure you are aware of, this is a blog with yandere themes and we have to say goodbye to the fluff at some point
That sword training comes in handy is all I'm saying
I mean, he has probably enough strength to break someone's leg with his bare hands by simply applying some pressure
And that one Diasomnia student that tried to take his son-status away from him was found again in a not-so-compatible-state-with-life kind of situation
I'm letting you imagine what happened
Like Lilia he is ready to burn everyone who dares to interfere with your little family
The forests of his homeland are pretty though so no need to worry about the appearance of your surroundings once they bring you to your new home (who needs social interaction anyways?)
A second of silence
And then the screaming started
âOH HOW KIND OF OUR OVERSEER! TO SHOW A MORTAL THEIR KINDNESS AND CARING SIDE!â
Seek would be lying if he said that he wasn't surprised
You, aka the Overseer, aka some higher being, AKA GOD, were known in the Valley of Thorns to be kind and caring, yet also distant and never approaching others directly
But then you literally adopt someone, making that person someone in your inner cycle?
Well, if Sebek knew one thing then that those Priests were going to have a crisis as soon as they learned about this
Totally not jealous
He would try to get closer to you since, apparently, you did allow others to get close to you
But he was happy as long as you were
After all, he was now the (not-so-official appointed) shield of the Valley of Thorns, something he got passed on by his grandfather
So of course he couldn't be family with you
That didn't mean he couldn't âhelpâ you
Someone intruded on that dinner you had with Lilia and Silver?
Ouch⊠that punch must have hurt
Whenever Silver or his Father had to interfere because someone else came too close then they were some incredibly slick (looking at you Rook) or lucky person
Don't let his loud mouth fool you
This crocodile has done unmentionables in your name in order to make things easier for your new found family
For what? Oh you know, becoming his neighbor back home⊠forever

close to you part two
alexia putellas x leila ouahabi x jenni hermoso x reader a third installment of the orgy fic: rush by @vixwritesagain [all chapters + all OOYG chapters linked on her masterlist] r and alexia continue to dance around each other, despite the... meddling from jenni and leila. 18+ for light smut and lots of sunscreen
â
Groceries stocked (and overstocked, if you asked her), Jenni stepped outside and slid the door closed behind her.Â
âYou seem relaxed.â She purred sarcastically.Â
Alexia had migrated to the shade, flicking through the pages of a book without really taking anything in.Â
âNo.â Alexia snapped, pulling her sunglasses down. âYou left me here.âÂ
âI did.â Jenni grinned, strolling along the path to stop in front of the shaded lounger. âWhat happened?âÂ
Even though Alexia stayed silent, Jenni grinned wider at the cool stare she knew was being aimed in her direction.Â
âNothing? Not even when she saw you in this tiny little thing?â Jenni leaned over her girlfriend, running a hand over Alexiaâs bare thigh until it reached the red ties of her swimsuit.Â
A sharp slap to her knuckles gave her pause.Â
âDonât touch. Iâm burnt.â Alexia growled, lifting her book higher.Â
âYou donât look burnt.âÂ
âYou left me here without even sunscreening my back, Jennifer.âÂ
Jenni froze, trying to read Alexiaâs half hidden face. âWhat happened, mi amor? Did you talk to her?âÂ
With a dramatic slam of her book, Alexia sat up and swung her legs to the ground. Jenni had only enough time to pull back and watch her girlfriend storm back into the villa.Â
It wasnât that she wanted Alexia grumpy, just that it was so fucking hot when she was pissy. Couple that with the sight of her perfect ass in a bikini, and Jenni lasted all of thirty seconds before following her.Â
Catching up with her in their bedroom, the striker shut the door courteously before watching as Alexia lay herself down on the hardwood floor.Â
âAle?âÂ
âGo away.â The midfielder huffed.
Jenni didnât even try to hide the roll of her eyes. âWhat are you doing?â
âItâs cold. Feels good on my burns.â
âI have aftersun in my suitcase. Let me help.âÂ
âNo!â Alexia hissed, rolling stubbornly onto her stomach. âNo touching for you.â
âAlexia-â
âYou left me, Jenni! I will never forgive you.â
âAlexia, I thought maybe if you two had some time alone itâd be easier-âÂ
Jenni was stunned into silence when Alexia jumped to her feet in an instant, then froze completely.Â
âAle? I thought it might be easier for you to-â
âShh!â Alexia hissed, snapping her furrowed brow to face her girlfriend.Â
Jenni had taken a sharp breath to argue right back when she heard it too.Â
â
Leila already had you on your back, her lips making a slow descent down your now bare body, when she heard the door slam shut. A moment later, it opened again, then closed much more quietly this time. She grinned against your hip bone, leaving a final kiss there before ghosting her fingers over your swim suit bottoms.Â
âLeila, please go faster,â you whined, already embarrassingly worked up from your girlfriendâs hands all over you, and your hands all over Alexia earlier. You thought of her back, taut muscles and smooth, soft skin. You thought of the red bikini, and the way it looked on her when sheâd walked away from you.Â
Hooking a finger under the waistband, Leila tugged your bottoms down and off your legs, humming happily when she lowered her cheek to rest against your thigh. It gave her a perfect view, especially as her fingers brushed over your glistening core. You were wet, very clearly affected by the events of the day. You squirmed when Leilaâs hand spread you wider, letting her thumb gather a bit of wetness before dragging up to your clit.Â
You felt like every one of your nerves was on fire, the agonizing anticipation of wanting Alexia and getting none of her driving you crazy. Youâd been worked up since youâd arrived, maybe even since you boarded the plane, and no matter what you did to get rid of the ache, it stuck around.Â
You were over the teasing, even if it had only been going on for a few minutes. You needed more this instant, or you were sure youâd explode.Â
âLei-â
Before the word was even out of your mouth, Leila was flicking her thumb over your clit, her touch no longer ghosting against you. Now, she touched you with purpose, rubbing and pressing in just the right way. Her hand drifted down, finding you more than wet enough for one of her fingers to slide easily inside, only needing a few gentle thrusts of her hand before a second finger eased itself in.Â
You pressed your hand over your mouth, not wanting the loud groan in your throat to escape. Partly because it felt much too soon for you to be reacting like this, and also because you were well aware you werenât alone in the villa.Â
As soon as your hand clapped over your face, though, muffling a sound Leila wanted to hear more than anything, she stopped.Â
Her touch disappeared, and you snapped your head up fast enough to give you whiplash, torn between annoyance and desperation. Leila was grinning up at you, though, with not a care in the world.Â
âLet them hear you. Let her hear you. Show her what sheâs missing.â Leila whispered.Â
And with the knowledge that both Jenni and Alexia were well within hearing distance, you let your head fall back onto the bed, an unrestrained moan falling from your lips as Leilaâs mouth connected with you again.
-
Jenni watched the full spectrum of emotions flutter across her girlfriendâs face before it settled into a frown after one particularly pointed moan.Â
âWe couldâŠâ Jenni trailed off tilting her head towards the door.Â
Alexiaâs pout only intensified. She reached up and tugged at the ties of her bikini, letting the top fall to the floor. Bottoms next, also discarded in a crumpled heap.Â
Jenni lifted an eyebrow.Â
âIâm going in the shower.âÂ
The captain made it three steps before she was lifted and dropped unceremoniously on clean bed sheets. The noises were louder from there, frequent and undeniable.Â
âAre you sure? You want to go and touch yourself in the shower and listen to her scream for someone else?â Jenni kneed her way onto the mattress, prowling over bare skin before stilling just above.Â
Alexia stared up at her, jaw set.Â
Matching her serious expression, Jenni pushed Alexiaâs hair back from her face. âDo you want me to ask them, amor? I can text her now.â Â
Jenni wanted to kiss away her girlfriendâs grumpy pout, but Alexia shaking her head like a toddler made it difficult. âNo. Sheâll ask for me.â
âSo stubborn.â Jenni teased, leaning down to ghost her lips over Alexiaâs. âYouâre sure?âÂ
âSĂ.âÂ
âFine. Go shower, then.â Rolling over into the empty space, Jenni quickly stripped her shirt off.Â
As she stood up and began shimmying her shorts down, Alexia followed her every move. It wasnât till Jenni reached into their suitcase and started throwing toys on the bed that Alexia sat up. âWhat are you doing?âÂ
âDonât worry, Iâm not going to join them without you. I know youâre too sunburnt to touch. So Iâll just be here. Enjoy your shower.â Jenni lay back down, picking up one of the vibrators.Â
Alexia didnât move a muscle, but her stare was intense.Â
In the silence, the noises from the bedroom across the hall were so loud - âyes!â and âfuck!â and the kind of moans which made Jenni shiver. She pressed a hand into her panties, exhaling at the first brush of contact before turning to her frozen girlfriend. âDid you want to watch, or-ooft!â
Jenni only just moved her hand in time to avoid the squish when Alexia straddled her waist.Â
The strikerâs hands remained down on the bed, showing an enormous amount of restraint. Especially when Alexia leaned down.Â
âVenga, Jenni. TĂłcame.â The midfielder demanded, using her position above Jenni to her advantage. Or so she thought.Â
Jenni hummed, finally lifting one of her hands up off the bed only to push Alexiaâs hair out of her face. âI shouldnât. You are burnt, no? I donât want to make it worse.â Jenni told her, an overly sympathetic look on her face.Â
Alexia glared down at her, grabbing at one of her girlfriendâs hands and trying to pull it to rest on her hip. Infuriatingly, Jenni continued to smile, pulling her hands away with ease and resting them behind her head. The blondeâs death stare didnât really seem to be doing much, and Alexia sighed, moving to climb off Jenniâs lap, determined to do it herself if she had to.Â
Before she could fully remove herself, though, Jenniâs hand moved between her legs, lightly dragging over Alexiaâs core. The blonde inhaled sharply, turning back triumphantly to her girlfriend, thinking sheâd won.Â
âYou are wet, though, amor. That must be uncomfortable.âÂ
The smirk on Jenniâs lips told Alexia she had to play along, or she wouldnât be getting anything she wanted. And as easy as it would have been to grab a vibrator off the bed and slip into the bathroom, she couldnât do it. She knew she wouldnât be able to get off the way she wanted to. Not even with the sounds coming from the bedroom next door, not with Jenni so close.Â
Still, it wasnât easy. Alexia remained frozen for a moment debating.Â
âJesus, Lei,â your voice rang out, likely audible from anywhere in the house. Only after hearing you did Alexia unfreeze, an unmistakable spark of competitiveness now shining in her eyes.Â
âDo something about it.â A raised eyebrow, a challenge extended - just because Alexia knew what she needed didnât mean sheâd give in easily. She knew Jenni didnât want her to either, because Jenni was just as stubborn.Â
âIâd love to, but youâre so burnt. Itâs probably better if youâre on top.â Jenni tried to school her smirk, but the corners of her mouth were infuriatingly curled.Â
Alexia frowned, staring hard at her girlfriend and trying to block out the fervent moans bleeding through the walls. Sheâd grown used to being under Jenni. While it wasnât her natural position, being strong armed into submission was addictive. Sheâd come to crave the way Jenni would manipulate her body and make it take over and over. âI⊠can top?âÂ
Alexia shivered at the faintest hint of her touch as Jenni once again dragged long fingers through her wetness. The striker chuckled, leaning up to nuzzle the soft skin of Alexiaâs neck. âDefinitely not. But you can be on top.â
Once again, Alexia froze.Â
Pressing her lips to her collarbone, Jenni curved her hand around her waist to keep her close. She hid her smile at the desperate buck of Alexiaâs hips, knowing that sheâd played her hand well. âThat, or you can get off alone in the shower. I know which Iâd prefer. Iâd even let you sit on my face as a warm-up.â
__
âFuck, Lei,â you panted blinking up at the ceiling.Â
Your fingers drew lazy patterns against her lower back, drawing out aftershocks which made her shiver and keen. She still straddled your leg. You could feel her grin where her face was pressed against your neck. âFuck,â she agreed.Â
You were only given half a minute of listening to the fan of the AC and her slowing breaths, before you heard the first sound. Quiet and muffled. You wouldnât have paid any mind if Leila didnât sit up inquisitively.Â
Her brow furrowed, then the second noise.Â
Leilaâs eyes met yours immediately. âTheyâreâŠâ she trailed off.Â
As the seconds ticked by and Leilaâs expression only grew more excited, you wondered if you were missing the sounds. Then a moan so loud you sat up too.Â
âShould weâŠâ Leila whispered, tilting her head towards the hallway door.
As tempting as it was, you stroked over her thigh before sighing, âNo, babe. They didnât interrupt us. And we all know youâre the loudest moaner in this house. â
Leilaâs playful pout made your chest tighten. âI donât know, you can be loud too.âÂ
âExactly,â you brushed off, âso they definitely heard us and still didnât come in.â
Leila chuckled, nodding along. âYouâre sure you donât want to go to them, bebĂ©?â At the shake of your head, your girlfriend wrapped her arms around your shoulders. âWant to keep going with me instead?âÂ
âLater,â You promised, doing the same to her waist, âMaybe food first? Theyâll be hungry after.â
âMaybe theyâll eat you on the table.â Leaning in, Leila kissed you deeply before pulling away just a fraction. âOr maybe I will.âÂ
â
Alexia stretched out lazily as she watched Jenni - still half naked - move around their room.Â
âThis one?â The striker called, holding up a dildo from the suitcase.Â
âSi, any. Hurry up.â Alexia muttered, though any irritation she held towards her girlfriend had been all but erased in the aftermath of her first orgasm. Just to tease, Alexia slid her hand down between her legs.Â
Jenniâs piercing glare gave her pause, now holding up two dildos. âNo. You choose.âÂ
It was one thing for the captain to take it, another entirely to admit to wanting it. Alexia rolled over so she didnât have to feel her cheeks heat up when she replied. âPink.â
She was ready to feel Jenniâs warm hands stroking her back, pushing and pulling until she was in the perfect position. Instead, the bed dipped to her side and gentle fingers worked through her hair. She waited a few seconds before humming her confusion.Â
âReady?â Jenni asked patiently.Â
Alexia twisted to look at her, lying perfectly relaxed against the pillows despite the harness tight against her hips.Â
Jenni stroked the toy casually, keeping her voice even. âYour burn, Ale. Youâre on top. Remember?âÂ
âPeroâŠâ Alexia started, before blushing further. She sat up to her knees, suddenly feeling very bare indeed.Â
âBut?â Jenni teased, though her fingers trailed down to catch Alexiaâs hand. She lifted it to her mouth, kissing at the knuckles before turning the palm against her cheek. âYou enjoyed riding my face, no?âÂ
âSĂ, butâŠâ Alexia grumbled, putting on her very best puppy dog eyes in a last-ditch attempt.Â
Unfortunately, Jenniâs pout was just as well-trained. âI could hold you down again, amor. But what I really want is to see you enjoy it. And I canât do that when youâre on your stomach.â Â
âOn my back, then.âÂ
âYour back is burnt, no?â
Alexia squeezed her jaw stubbornly.Â
When she made no move, Jenniâs signature grin grew slowly. âLike this.â
âI want to come. No punishment.â Alexia bargained.Â
Jenni turned her face to kiss at her girlfriendâs palm before reaching for her thighs. âHurry up and Iâll let you come twice.â
-
It was a good thing Leila could cook because you were completely and utterly useless that evening. Ignoring the increasingly loud noises coming from the bedroom was impossible, but your girlfriend did well to set out the ingredients and give you seemingly simple tasks. With each one, Leila would even pretend youâd done a fine job before stepping in to speed things along. It wasnât until the knife you were meant to be using to chop peppers only narrowly missed your finger that she took that from you too.Â
âSit,â she ordered before laying into the vegetable.Â
It was so much worse then. The vision of her, dancing her way around the kitchen with her hair scraped back in a messy bun punctuated by all kinds of sounds. Their words were muffled, but the grunts and moans and slaps and bangs of the bed hitting against the wall? All loud.Â
âTheyâre going to damage the house,â you grumbled.
Leila chuckled, shaking her head as she offered you a piece from the chopping board. âHmm. Maybe they should have used this counter. Much more stable.âÂ
The sounds continued through the rest of dinner prep, which felt like an eternity just sitting and listening, though was probably not long at all. Leila cooked quickly, alternating between smiling at you when she heard the bed banging against the wall and frowning in concentration at the food in front of her. She was thrilled, you could tell, but that was not the word you would have assigned to your own feelings in the moment.Â
âTheyâre so loud tonight,â Leila commented as she placed a full plate in front of you. âAlexia⊠wow.âÂ
Your emotions were hard to swallow down. âDinner will get cold.âÂ
âThey can use the microwave.âÂ
âMaybe I should shout on them.âÂ
âAlexia would come running,â Leila sniggered.
âItâs not fair. You cooked for us, the least they could do is be here and eat it while itâs hot.âÂ
The most infuriating thing about Leila was her ability to see right through you. âHmm, what could have happened to make you so grumpy after a very fun afternoon?âÂ
âMaybe we should go back upstairs.âÂ
âSĂ? And let dinner get cold?âÂ
âItâll reheat.âÂ
Leila grinned and picked up her fork. âEat, bebĂš. I donât want to hear your stomach singing.âÂ
âRumbling,â you corrected as a particularly rapturous moan rang out, âmy stomach rumbles.âÂ
âSo grumpy.âÂ
__
You were all too aware when quiet finally fell. You and Leila shared a look before finishing the last of your plate, and clearing it away.Â
Sheâd just poured you another round of drinks when the door squeaked open.Â
âHi,â Leila greeted as Alexia timidly made her way downstairs. Jenni followed ten seconds later, moving far more energetically. Jenniâs grin was triumphant, and you desperately wished that you could get her alone to get to the bottom of it.Â
âDid you cook? Sorry weâre late,â the striker began, brushing up against her girlfriend and kissing her shoulder.Â
Alexiaâs hands immediately circled Jenniâs forearms. As Leila dived into her master cheffing, you took in their disheveled appearance. Despite the messy hair and the crumpled, loose clothes, they were glowing. Happy.Â
You tried to push down the jealousy as you busied yourself prepping their plates for the microwave.Â

umm is it possible to get a yandere! male!siren x shy!gn reader?
Fish Bait
Yandere!Siren x GN Reader
CW: Kidnapping, assault, minor stalking, murder, thalassophobia maybe?
đ You are quite shy when it came to talking to people. You found the whole 'socializing thing' a bit overwhelming considering how rough and loud the rest of the people in your academy was.
đ You much preferred staying by the shore with a nice book or drawing book to enjoy the sound of the waves with. The ocean breeze and wailing of seagulls never failed to relax you.
đ One day, you heard the strange sound of splashing by the tide pools along the more rocks area of the shore. You thought it was a fish or some other animal that got stuck in one of the pools after the tide retreated and got up to help it out.
đ But what you saw was no animal, well, half animal. In one of the pools was a man with the lower half of a fish, his scales glistened wondrously as it splashed in the water.
đ The man looked at you with wide eyes and froze. You put your hands up to show you meant no harm.
đ "Please! Spare me! I just want to go home!"
đ "Calm down! I won't hurt you!"
đ He shook with fear as your hands drew closer to him.
đ You then pulled him up from the pool and carried him to the sea, he stares at you as you gently lowered him unto the water.
đ As soon as his tail was submerged in the sea, he swam out of your grasp and went a distance away from you, part of his head peeking out of the water as his red eyes looked at yours.
đ "Well...safe travels.." You mutter, wading back to shore, but the merman peeks his mouth out the water and shouts to you.
đ "You're not going to ask anything in return?"
đ You look back. "Uhm..no, I'm fine, thanks anyway.."
đ "Hmm, you know...you can come with me to my home. I'll grant you the power to breathe under water and you can enjoy the treasures I have there. What do you say? It's the least I can do for what you've done for me!"
đ "Nah, I'm good. Be safe though, I heard theres pirates that hunt merfolk nowadays..." You continue your way to shore but the merman swims quickly to your side.
đ "Don't you want to be rid of those insolent fools you call schoolmates? I can give you a life people only dream of!"
đ "I'm not really..interested..."
đ "...You're not?"
đ "Yeah..."
đ "...Oh..uh..ok...wow-um..well, bye I guess..." The man stutters before sinking his head back into the water.
đ You sigh, that was some encounter. You doubt you'd run into something like that again...
đ Boy howdy you were wrong.
đ You'd spot the strange boy again and again, always hiding back behind the rock or piece of driftwood he was watching you from.
đ Sometimes you'd also find trinkets and beautiful stones laid on the shore. You never took them though; you didn't want to take something someone probably lost. The merman would grumble to himself every time you ignored his baits.
đ You'd also see him again trapped in the pools, feigning sorrow that poor little him got stuck again during another low tide. What ever shall he do?
đ Your days would go on like this, the merman desperately trying to lure you into the sea but to no avail due to your shy and polite nature.
đ Him basically stalking you turned to him directly talking to you and trying to get you to go with him in the water.
đ "Oh dear, I've been stuck at this reef for ages! I just can't get out! Could you help me please? I promise not to drown you!"
đ "No thanks, I'm on the last chapter of my book..."
đ "My, my, it's so lonely in the ocean, not a playmate in sight, come down with me so we can really get to know each other yeah?"
đ "I don't really wanna get my clothes wet..."
đ What you thought was a potentially dangerous creature of the sea became a whiny, attention-seeking drama queen.
đ Eventually, you'd learn his name is Caspian. He gave up a bit on trying to lure you and settled on making small talk with you.
đ Most of your conversations would revolve around your cultures, how you two lived compared to eachother.
đ "So those silver things with teeth aren't combs? Interesting...tell me more!"
đ He more or less looked up to you because of the knowledge you'd tell him, even though it was all basic things ever human knows, but he wasn't a human so, I guess it's alright.
đ He'd try to crawl onto shore to see what you were reading or drawing. You'd have to scoot away from him because he was dripping wet, and you didn't want your paper to get soiled.
đ Please read to him! He loves it when you read out loud the books you bring!
đ Life seemed pretty content with you having a friend to talk to, one who's not judgmental of your quiet personality.
đ That was until one day, you heard laughing and shouting from your usual spot.
đ You saw your classmates, waist deep in the water trying to drag Caspian to the shore, the merman snarling and biting the air around him angrily as the bullies degrade and laugh at his attempts to wriggle out of their grasp.
đ "Look at this, boys! With this ugly thing we can buy the whole pub if we wanted to!"
đ "H-hey! Leave him alone!" You shouted, dropping your things as you ran to help your friend, but one of them punched you with in the face and grabbed you, about to hit you again.
đ "What? You're gonna let this siren kill everyone that comes to this beach? God you're dumb! No wonder why you have no friends!"
đ He was about to give another blow when you both heard a shrill cry from the ocean.
đ The water pooled with crimson as only the splashing of limbs can be seen form the shore, cries and gurgles are heard from the writhing gore. Your classmate rushes into the water to save his friends before the violent splashing stops and the red patch of bloody water extends towards him and around him until you see him get yanked below into the water, a splash of a fish tail verified in your mind that it was Caspian.
đ You could feel your heart pounding as you see the siren lift its head from the water, his blood red eyes staring at you again with razor sharp teeth bared.
đ "P-please...don't hurt me..I didn't lead them to you I swear!" You cried as he crawled to your shivering form.
đ You held your breath as he pulled you in a wet hug, your clothes getting stained by the salty, bloody water.
đ "Oh my darling~ I know you would never hurt me~ But we're not safe here anymore..I fear I'll have to take you somewhere safer...somewhere away from those disgusting creatures."
đ You couldn't even react before you were pulled into the water forcefully, you kicked and swam all you could to get him to let go of you, but soon enough, your whole body was under the water. The only thing that was left of you were your things by the sand, and bubbles that rose to the surface before stopping.
đ "You'll be safe here my love, my most wonderful treasure~"
this one was by far one of my favorite bois ive written, he's so mhmhmghghghmmmhmhmmhhh

Chapter 64 of human Bill Cipher being 50% the prisoner & 50% the weird guest of the Mystery Shack:
Soos makes a deeply significant moral decision. To redecorate!
If you're seeing this picture, it's because I either didn't have enough time to draw a better one before the queue spat out this chapter, or I decided that nothing else I could draw would be half as funny.
####
Whenever Soos faced something difficult, he talked to Abuelita. And Bill was nothing if not something difficult.
Soos laid out the situation to her in the living room as she watched her telenovelasâshe didn't mind the distraction, she far preferred real life drama over anything they put on TV. He told her about the confiscated canes, the daily injuries, the bargaining for food, the threat of forced showers, the bruises and burns and blood Bill said nothing about. He told her about Bill's door trick and how he'd only used it to talk to a teen about life and tuck a kid into bed. Once he'd told Abuelita all his thoughts, she nodded slowly, eyes still fixed to the TV screen; and for the moment, said nothing.
The doctor on TV confirmed the tearful new mother's suspicions that her husband had cheated (DNA tests confirmed the baby was another woman's), and Abuelita muted the show as it went to a commercial break. Soos waited as she collected her thoughts to render her judgment.
"I have been talking to Mr. Cipher for the last month or so. He keeps me company while I cook so I do not poison him again," she said. "I think he is ruthless, manipulative, and self-centered."
Soos winced, but nodded. "That's true."
Abuelita went on, "I like him. He is self-confident. He's blunt in a way you only get when you're old and cynical. I think he is a bad person; but, many bad people are good company."
"That's also true." Soos nodded again thoughtfully. Like whenever a comic book had a young idealistic superhero team up with an old jaded ex-villain who played by his own rules, and they ended up best friends, in spite of their glaring ethical and political differences.
"But, more importantly than whether he is a good person or a bad person," Abuelita said, "he is a person. And if you do not like a person, there are three ways you can deal with him." She counted off on her fingers, "You can kill him; you can avoid him; or you can set your feelings aside, and treat him with decency. Yes, get rid of the people who are bad for youâbut no matter how terrible a person is, you must treat him like a person."
Soos's eyes lit up. "Oh, like with grandpa!"
Abuelita nodded slowly. "Yes. Just like grandpa."
"Yeah butâwhat if treating him decently is, you know... dangerous? Like if he uses any privileges we give him to do bad stuff? The Pines think he will. And I think he might be secretly talking to his cultists or whatever? Who miiight wanna destroy the world? But what if they can't destroy the world actually, and if I tell about the people he's talking to, he gets treated even worse..."
"Without his devil powers, he couldn't destroy a bookclub," Abuelita said. "But, if he is so dangerous, are you going to kill him?"
"No. I actually don't think we can anymore?"
"Are you going to avoid him?"
Soos let out a heavy sigh. "I can't as long as he lives here."
Abuelita shrugged, as if to say there you have it. "You are a good, kind man, mijo. I am sure you will figure out the right thing to do."
####
He took Melody out for lunch. They went through a drive-thru so they could park and talk privately in the truck.
She took a firmer stance on it than Abuelita. "I do not want to be stuck with Bill forever," she said. "I could put up with it this long because I thought the Pines would get rid of him as soon as possible! Now that he's staying here indefinitely...?" She shook her head. "I really don't like it, Soos."
Soos wasn't surprised. "Do... you think they should have 'gotten rid' of him?"
Melody paused, then shook her head again. "This whole thing is such a bizarre situation. Like, I can get why it makes sense to execute the guy that can end the world, but... I just don't think that's a decision two random guys with a big gun should be allowed to make," she said. "Honestly? I think we should call some federal agency and put him in jail somewhere. You know I've been iffy on Ford's 'only we can contain Bill' thing from the start."
"Yeah. I know." Soos agreed with Fordâhe was the Bill expert, he would knowâbut he couldn't say Melody was wrong, either.
"Our wedding's scheduled for the end of summer," Melody said. "And... I'm sorry, Soos, but I just can't live under the same roof as the guy that turned me into a statue. We'll still get marriedâ"
"âOh, phew, almost had a heart attack thereâ"
"âpff, sorry. But if Bill's still in the shack after the summer, then... then I'll keep staying with my aunt, or we could move into your old house and just visit the shack for work, or something... but I can't move into the shack permanently until he moves out."
"Okay. I accept that." Even if the rest of them had sorta gotten used to living with Bill, Soos thought not wanting to live with a former torturer/conqueror/dictator was a pretty reasonable boundary. "I dunno what we'll do long-term just yet, butâwe'll decide on something before the wedding."
Melody let out a long, nervous sigh. "Okay," she said. "Okay. Thanks, Soos." She reached across the truck's center console.
Soos took her hand. "But, how do you think we should handle Bill until then?"
Melody stared out the window at the gray sky. The rain had dried up before dawn, but the sky was still hazy. "If we keep guarding him ourselves instead of getting law enforcement involved... personally? I wouldn't give him any kind of special treatment at all. He tried to end the world! He stuck the whole town in a throne! He can just keep sleeping on the floor and being miserable, and I'd be fine with it."
Soos winced. "I see."
Melody squeezed his hand. "Butâthe fact that you're kinder than that is one of the things I love about you. Even when the creep you're being kind to doesn't deserve it." She gave him a resigned smile. "Do whatever you feel is right."
He considered that. Then he nodded. "I will."
####
Bill kept Soos's Abuelita company while she cooked, and gossiped with her in Spanish better than Soos's about people Bill had never even met. Bill liked watching cartoons, sports where people got hurt, and weirdly intellectual movies Soos didn't get, and he heckled historical documentaries and the news. Bill was offended by white rice and had incredibly strong opinions about salsas for a guy who'd only started eating them a month ago. Bill hadn't taken his friendship bracelet off once since Mabel gave it to him. Bill might not have been a human; but he was a person.
It was high time they start treating him like one.
####
Soos came home late in the afternoon with his truck laden down with supplies. Stan's car was gone, and when Soos came in with an armload of wooden boards he didn't see anybody around except Abuelita, napping in the living room, and Dipper, laying on the living room floor watching TV. "Hey dude," Soos whispered. "Where's everybody else?"
Dipper whispered back, "Hey Soos. Stan and Ford are at McGucket's mansion." He didn't look up from the TV. He was watching a rerun of Ghost Harassers on mute. "Mabel's with Bill in the floor room. He's in a bad mood about something so they've been doing karaoke all day."
"Huh." Soos could faintly hear someone playing his electric piano. It sounded like it was on the organ setting. "I didn't know he plays piano."
"He's alright," Dipper said. "His singing's terrible, though."
Soos shuddered. He could imagine.
Well, at least it meant Bill was out of the way. Soos began his first of many trips upstairs.
####
"What's all this racket?" Stan trudged upstairs to inspect Soos's noisesâand abruptly stopped at the top of the stairs as he almost ran into a wooden beam. "What theâ?"
"Oh, hey Mr. Pines!" Soos hooked his hammer on his tool belt. He'd put up wall framing to section off the corner of the attic floor that included the window seat.
Stan circled around the framing, inspecting it in bafflement. "Soos, what the heck is this?"
"So, remember at the beginning of summer, when I said that me and Melody were thinking about putting in a gaming room-slash-guest room in the attic? And Ford said not to bother until Bill was gone because he wouldn't be here long enough for me to finish? Welp! Sounds like he's gonna be here long enough for me to finish now! So I thought, hey, might as well, right? No reason not to!" He shrugged. "By the way, do you think I should put the door in front of the stairs, or on the long side of the room opposite the window? If it's in front of the stairs, you can just walk right in the room when you come up, and we'd be able to put a big screen on the long wall; but when you're walking out of the room it'd be really easy to forget the stairs are there and fall, and uh, we already have enough of a problem with thatâ"
Stan finally got his dropped jaw working again. "But this is where the demon sleeps! Where are we supposed to put him now?!"
"Oh, it's fine! Bill can keep sleeping in here. I'll put up a curtain instead of a door for now. This way the room's ready for gaming once Bill's gone." Soos planted his hands on his hips and surveyed his handiwork with pride.
"Are you crazy? You're giving Bill his own room?! No way! He could do anything in private. We can't trust him with thatâ"
"Listen." Soos gave Stan a serious look. "Mr. Pines, I respect you, and I love you like the dad I never had except technically I do have a dad but he's off being a deadbeat in Florida or something so he doesn't count."
He pointed at the floor. "But this is my house now. My name might not be on the deed, but my butt is in the master bedroom! And nobody under my roof is living likeâlikeâlike some kind of starving hobo sleeping on a bench under a newspaper, you know what I'm talking about? The Mystery Shack is a happy place! Where people come to see dreams come true and have their imaginations expanded! And I won't see it turned into some sad one-man prison!"
Stan stared at Soos, speechless.
"So." Soos took a deep breath. "With all due respectâI'm building a gaming room, and it'll have walls, and Bill gets to sleep in it. Because he's a person! And we're gonna treat him like one!"
Stan slowly looked from Soos to the wall framing, to the boxes of supplies he'd bought for the room and pushed against a wall to waitâto the pathetic couch cushion bed still sitting on the floor in front of the window. "All right. That'sâthat's fine. I'll let Ford know."
Soos's shoulders relaxed. "Thanks, Mr. Pines."
Stan clapped a hand on Soos's shoulder; looked for a moment like he wanted to say something; then just shook his head and said instead, "Knock off the hammering before the kids go to bed, all right?"
"No problem! I've gotta set up some furniture and stuff in here anyway." He got back to work as Stan went downstairs.
####
Soos paused his work when he overheard Bill's voice: "Hey Stanford. Figured out the kitchen situation yet?"
Soos had to strain to hear Ford (jeez, Bill was loud) as he said, "We haven't had a chance yet. For now, we can at least leave one of the counter cabinets open."
"Huh." It didn't sound like an impressed huh. "And will this open cabinet have any of the foods you put in the cabinet to hide from me? Or just more of the junk I've already been scavenging."
Ford was silent long enough to provide the answer.
"Right."
"I went by the grocery store," Ford offered. "I got avocados."
"Uh huh."
"And several pepper varieties."
"Ooh." Bill sounded intrigued in spite of himself.
"And protein drinks. They're nutritious, at least," Ford said. "ButâI know that's not adequate. Stan and I will have something permanent figured out by the end of the week."
"I guess it's fine as an emergency measure," Bill said, "but you know how the phrase goes! Give a triangle a protein drink, and it'll eat for a day. Teach a triangle to open the fridge, and it'll eat for the rest of its life. If you lift that curse..."
"We'll talk. But don't get your hopes up. Neither of us likes the thought of giving you the power to come in our bedroom and smother us in our sleep the next time we have an argument."
"Fine." Bill's voice had hardened again. "You've got to the end of the week. But don't forget! If I don't like your offer, I don't have to take it! You can't keep me in this rickety barn anymore."
"I haven't forgotten."
The conversation seemed to be over and Soos didn't hear anyone coming up the stairs. He got back to work.
He felt good. He was doing the right thing.
####
When Mabel came up to bed, she stared in confusion at the modified attic floor, squealed in excitement when she realized what she was looking at, surprised Soos with a hug, and gushed about how great it was; and then she let Soos know Dipper and Ford were out tonight investigating weird stuff and went on to bed herself.
The first notification Soos had that Bill had come upstairs was a flat, offended, "What."
"Oh, hey!" Soos ducked out of the opening he'd left for the doorwayâwhich he'd ultimately decided to put straight across from the window, to let a little light back into the attic. (He'd have to add more lighting in the main attic now that the window was blocked off.) Bill was standing at the corner of the new room, surveying the work with an expression of deep suspicion.
Soos said, "I was just getting started on this gaming room Melody and me wanted to put inâit's okay though, you can keep using it, we'll just turn it into a gaming room, uhhh... lllater. Whenever, it's cool!"
Bill turned his suspicious look on Soos; but when Soos gestured for Bill to follow him into the room, he reluctantly followed.
"Yeah, I got up the framing," Soos said, "but I couldn't get to the drywall today, so I just stapled up some tarps to be walls for now. But, look!" He gestured grandly. "I brought up the old orange sofa and chaise thingy that used to be in Abuelita's room! They've been in storage for like a year. I bet we could sit, like, six people on it for game nights. It turns out the sofa's a daybed, so we can use it as an extra guest bed for visitors, we do not have enough beds for visitors in the shack, haha. And, check itâ" Soos flipped up the lid on a chest he'd placed in front of the right end of the sofa like a footrest. "I put in one of those top-down chest fridges for gaming snacks! It uh, the top of it swings up, that makes it a lid instead of a door, right? Sooo I guess you can use it too, right? You can just, put whatever you want on the weekly grocery list, and we'll put it in here. Oh, and!" He pointed at the ancient TV console table he'd hauled up from the cellar, "I set up a hot plate here, too! So you can cook stuff in the attic! Forâfor normal legitimate gaming room purposes."
Bill's gaze followed where Soos pointed, from the ancient orange sofa to the fridge chest to the hot plate. He didn't say anything. His expression was completely unreadable.
Soos swallowed. "Oh, and, by the way, speaking of home improvements, I took out the doorknob on the main bathroom, and put in one of those, like, little slidy dealies like public bathroom stalls? Plus I gave the door those swinging hingesâlike the kind on saloon doors in the movies, o-or, say, the door into the gift shopâ"
Bill whipped around to face Soos.
Soos jumped. He laughed nervously and tried to remember what point he was making. "S-so, um... there's no latch now, so it doesn't latch, which means there's no way to accidentally get locked inâor out, of the bathroom, and... and I don't actually know how much of that you understood, due to the whole curse thing? Just forget everything I just said, I guess, the important thing is you can use that bathroom without asking someone else now! Cool, right?"
He had to turn away from Bill's intense gaze, pointing back at the gaming room's doorway. "Anyway since the room isn't finished yet and you're probably gonna use it for a while, I hung up a curtain instead of a door. And I added that cool zodiac spell blanket thing Mabel gave me inside the curtain! Since you said you liked it so much when you first got here. And like... having it in our room kinda creeps Melody out, I think it might be giving her nightmares? So I thought you might like it better. Anyway I've still gotta do some other stuff, like add power outlets in here, and air conditioning, and... a-and..." He petered out weakly.
Bill was giving Soos the most venomous look he'd ever seen.Â
"Sure. Terrific." Bill crossed his arms, seething. "I've slept on the floor, I can cope with sleeping in the middle of a construction zone too. No big deal! I'll make do."
"Oh," Soos said. "Uh... if it bothers you, I could try to get the walls finished tomorrow? Shack's closed tomorrow too, so, I was already planning to keepâ"
Teeth grit, Bill snarled, "Don't put yourself out on my behalf."
Soos froze. "Oookay! Uh... well, I'll be getting ready for bed if you need... yeah, no, youâyou probably don't need anything. Bye." He ducked out into the attic, letting out a whoosh of a sigh as soon as the curtain swung shut behind him.
Bill had looked like he was two seconds from ripping out Soos's throat. Why? Had he liked sleeping on the floor? He'd never seemed like he had. Maybe he'd preferred the attic's open flooring? Maybe he hated extremely 70's orange upholstery? Was this a mistake...?
Bill watched through the tarp until Soos was down the stairs. Then he lunged over the sofa, hanging over the back by his waist, to reach the attic window seat. He groped for the corner of the seat cushion where he'd hidden Journal 4.
He sighed in relief when he felt the familiar rectangular block in the cushion. He pulled it free: there was Journal 4, along with his two stubby crayons. As well as two marker pens, black and red, with a sticky note wrapped around them that said, "Thought these might be useful, dude!"
Bill's hands trembled with fury.
####
Soos was brushing his teeth when someone pounded on the bathroom door, making him drop his brush. The door swung open a couple of inches; Soos heard Bill mutter a confused, "What?" before it swung shut again.
Soos opened the door. "Bill? What's..."
Bill's face was completely flushed. It was hauntingly reminiscent of the look he'd had last year right before trying to murder Soos and the kids in Stan's mind. His rage had shot past "apoplectic" and landed on "apocalyptic." Soos understood how Pompeii had felt when the rumbling began. He took a few steps back.
Bill stalked into the bathroom.
He slapped the red pen down on the counter.
And, avoiding eye contact, he muttered, "Fine-tip yellow highlighter would be better. If you've got it."
"Oh," Soos said. "Sure, I... I think I have some skinny highlighters in my office. Just... lemme finish brushing my teeth."
####
Bill leaned in the office doorway, arms crossed tight, waiting. As Soos rummaged through his desk supplies, back to the door, he got the uneasy feeling that maybe Bill had lured him here to stab him in the back or something. He seemed mad enough. And the office was narrow; if Bill came up right behind him, there'd be nowhere for Soos to dodge...
When he found a new highlighter and turned around, Bill was glowering inches behind him.
Soos jumped. "Dude! You freaked me out."
Bill didn't condescend to respond. He just snatched the highlighter out of Soos's hand and stormed from the room. A moment later, Soos could hear him stomping up the stairs (and stumbling on one step. Soos really needed to figure out how to make the stairs more safe).Â
For the life of him, Soos didn't know how he'd offended Bill.
####
The contraband supplies Bill had hidden behind a loose board in the wall still appeared to be undisturbed. He could only hope Soos hadn't found them during his snooping. For tonight, he could hide Journal 4 there; tomorrow he'd have to find a new, more secure hiding spot that kept it close enough to where Bill slept.
He turned around the hanging zodiac blanket and curtain so Bill's watchful triangular face was guarding the new attic hallway rather than staring into the room.
He surveyed his atrocious new sofa. If he'd known he would be plagued with this thing in the future, he would have found a way to make Ford get rid of it thirty years ago. Would Ford have thrown it out if his blessed Muse had told him it looked hideous? Maybe, but that would've put a ding in Bill's benevolent image. He could've said the sofa would lead Ford to doom? No, too implausible. Ford had always wanted a nice set of leather furniture; maybe if Bill had claimed the cost of leather furniture was about to skyrocket, and if Ford ever wanted to build his dream sophisticated gentleman's den then he should buy as soon as possibleâmaybe sell his current sofa to recoup costs and free up space... Yeah, Ford would've eaten that up, he'd have been so grateful Bill was thoughtful enough to care about his silly little life dreams and look out for his financial future. He shoulda done that. Hindsight.
So. What did he have here? A daybed; personal fridge; mini-stove; walls (tarp); two pillows; throw blanket; two markers; a lamp (unplugged); a clock radio (unplugged); a low console table with two shelves, onto which Soos had emptied the contents of Bill's cardboard box of clothes; and an implicit promise to keep a pile of secrets.
How humiliating.
He considered sleeping on the bare floor in protest; but, his back still hurt. Once again, subject to the tyranny of an organic body. He sighed, pulled his bedsheet from the console table, and curled up on the sofa.
The moment he lay down, a scent soaked into the seat cushion made his heart leap into his throat. He was sure he could smell home. Familiar and comforting and rightâand for a moment the evidence of his other six senses didn't matter: he had his power back, he was in his kingdom, and all was right with the world. It took a moment to figure out what about the scent had so strongly disoriented him: he was smelling the atmosphere of the Nightmare Realm.
And then took another moment to work out that it wasn't really the Nightmare Realm, but a very similar scentâsulfurous, organic, burning. Burnt hair.
The cushion still smelled like Ford.
Bill groaned in frustration, rolled off the sofa, and flopped to the floor.
After permitting himself a moment of rage at the injustices of the multiverse, Bill crawled up onto the chaise lounge on the left end of the sofa, avoiding the part of the sofa where Ford used to sleep.
The chaise was smaller than his floor cushion bed used to be; but he'd make do.

saturday, july 27th, 2024. quite a productive and an emotional dayâŠ
i woke up at 7, got up half an hour later and took a long shower. i cleaned up my house, ate breakfast and sat down at 10 to begin working on my thesis.
took a an hour long break and decided to clean up my desk space + parts of my room, and i ended up reorganizing it to have more space for all of those papers and books.
now iâm taking a small break to do some language exercises on four apps i try to keep up my streak on.
iâm a bit tired and frustrated at times, but every time my emotions try to get a hold of me i try to step away from work, do something else, drink water and break the topic down into smaller parts. and when i get stuck on a sentence that i canât make right, i simply skip it for now or try to work backwardsâŠ
iâm really proud of myself for all of the work iâm doing, and how much iâve managed to finally move forward with. iâm sure iâll manage to write more than one chapter before the end of this month!
